Why are people soo stupid?

Post by vwjuice »

I keep seeing ads on craigslist for rc's they are asking full price on. There is an hpi mt2 rtr with a gallon of fuel and glow plug igniter. The guy wants $400. When priced out you could buy everything for only $30 more and it would all be brand new. Oh yeah and he says it "need tuning". So basically he screwed it up and wants to get rid of it.

Then there's all the t-maxxes that are always for sale at $300-$400. Then they wonder why they keep reposting their ad and not getting any calls. Gee I wonder idiots.

There's been a 1st gen Stampede for sale for $200 locally on CL for months now. He started for weeks at $250 and just dropped the price a couple weeks ago.
It does come with a Dynamite Mega charger and a couple stick packs though!!

And yep, T-Maxxes hold their value like vintage Corvettes I guess.

In many cases, these people go into a hobby store, buy an R/C at Hobby Shop prices, then they want to get back close to what they paid.

There is or was an RC10b3 on ebay for a while, for $600, it was new built and everything, but come on!!!, I've seen them go for $200 factory sealed (not often though)....

I agree, Idiots.. these are the people who give r/c a bad name, then they'll go around telling stories of how they had one of those R/C cars, but got rid of them because they didn't know how to fix them...
Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what R/C car you're gonna get next!!!

We have one ad that is a "like new" stampede comes with quick charger and two batteries $175. It's a first gen stampede with an msc, no slipper clutch, and all black plastic parts. I have one. They were A little over $110 new in the early 90's. The batteries he has are 1100 mah nicads, probably not useable anymore, and the charger is an old dynamite 15 minute charger. The radio is an old cheap airtronics twin stick radio. The guy's been trying to sell this truck for at least 5 or 6 months. You can get the waterproof stampede brand new for the same freakin price.

I have found a couple deals. My Rad2 was a CL steal and I picked up a Marui Samurai for $20-- granted it's missing one mega-bucks wheel & tire, but still a good find. Overall though there's a lot of garbage you have to get through to find the gems. :D

I can sympathize with folks trying to get their investments back, but there is a point of insanity. Funny how when they go to buy a 1:1 used car they check for the blue book value, but when they go to sell other personal items they don't even think to check Sleaze Bay to see what the going rate is for their junk.

What cheezes me off is when people at the flea market or on craigslist are tryin to get eBay top dollar for their items. What they don't realize is that there are some substantial costs involved in selling on eBay. So when a seller says it can go for X on eBay, I say then why are you selling it here and not on eBay?
