My son's Midnight Pumpkin and my Lunchbox & Pumpkin
I built my son a Midnight Pumpkin. He's only 3 1/2 but he loves helping me with my cars. and he spent as much time as his mother could stand at the track watching me race last summer. I think he will be into it to. its all stock I bought it from Shodog I took it apart and replaced all of the bushings with bearings, a new body set, and set of See's Champ 500's from Bngiles. thanks guys!

Re: My son's Midnight Pumpkin
Yes I am pretty hapy with it. I got a new chrome set from some guy in England on Ebay, and a body from Tower. I painted it then Cleared, that didnt turn out as well I wanted. so I put it the paint booth and used some automotive clear. that got the shine I was after. but as many of these as I have built I have never been able to get the decals to laydown tight. their under the automotive clear and the flames still lifted a little. I am going to paint the original body with automotive paint and see how it comes out. I have some candyapple metal flake I want to try.

Re: My son's Midnight Pumpkin
As a kid I put some paddle tires on my lunch box, from what I remember it did pretty good in the snow.
Nice job on your Midnight Pumpkin body.

Re: My son's Midnight Pumpkin
Good stuff,Rick!
Almost finished my Pumpkin build,myself.
Bought an incomplete chassis for $20,a complete diff off eBay for $10 and a chrome Pumkin body that's like new for $20
All I need is the 'E' parts tree for some body mounts.
Scored some new chrome rims,too.
The yellow old school CVA shocks look a little out of place, but I'll be damned if I'm going to replace oil shocks with the stock friction shocks, just because they're chrome!
Good to see the young'un keeping the faith!

Re: My son's Midnight Pumpkin
Thank you, I painted it in my shop and topped with 5 coats of automotive clear to hold the decals down.MelvinsArmy wrote:That's one nice looking Midnight Pumpkin.
Re: My son's Midnight Pumpkin
I bought one of these when the first came out with the money I got for my 12th birthday. I just remember how upset I was the first time I flipped it and scraped up the body. I eventually sold it to help pad for an RC12L. I recently bought another one I planned to build as a shelf queen but have not got around to putting it together. I just love the look of the hard shell body. The paint on yours looks fantastic! Your son will no doubt be hooked on R/C.

He is already he wants to play with them more than I do. thanks for the comp on the body, its not perfect but pretty clean. I figured he would just tear it up anyway but I wanted it nice when he got it. he is doing much better than I expected on not scraching it up, it still looks pretty good. hes had it almost a year now.

Re: My son's Midnight Pumpkin
Well My Son loves his pumpkin so much, he wanted me to run my truck with him . but my RS4 MT just didn't cut it little to much truck. so thanks to my very good friend Red Scampi, he hooked me up with a couple more pumpkins. I took them apart and built a very nice one. This fulfilled two of my needs. my desire to have a truck to run with my son, and to replace my beloved Lunchbox, I have missed for years, as the ex-wife sold it in the divorce . now with a a little EBay action and the pumpkin is now gone, and from the ashes rises a box stock Lunchbox. it does have a modified motor Imex chrome wheels, new Re-release body set form (nitro-master great ebayer) then 2 coats of Ford performance yellow, 4 coats of automotive clear, we have new reborn Lunchbox. you should see the shine the pic's just don't do it justice
