Today was not a good day for myself and I did not get to talk to Eustace. Dealing with a stomach bug that put me and the family down Sunday evening and all day today. Feeling a bit better now and will try to call Eustace tomorrow to what the latest news might be.

Reading back through this entire thread I would say that it definately is cool that dadeo has gone to so much trouble by trying to secure a good deal on these kits with Eustace Moore. While it would be UBER COOL to see these kits remade or the like i think we'll find many people are struggling financialy at the moment.
While most of us would have sneazed at $500 a while ago the world is now a different place for most. I wish i had that kind of money now just so i could do something nice for my wife or get some extra bills paid off. There was a time when I'd be spending $500 a week on R/c but now I'd be lucky to find that in a month.
Im not out to put a dampener on this deal for anyone but has MIP even considered the state of the worlds economy when they decide on a price of these kits? Who knows what the actual price will be when it comes down to it. Time will tell.

Guys, this kinda undertaking is going to take some time..... certainly not days. I would imagine that this a small blip on MIPs radar in terms of their daily business. Remember this kit isn't for the masses, just us wennies wanting to blow our wallets to re-live our childhood.

Daddeo doesn't want to be thorn in anyone's side, especially MIPs. He'll update us when he has new info. Give it time, it will come.

Not saying we all shouldn't discuss it, but let's not ask "Mommie, are we there yet.... how about now..... what about now?"

Very insightful words from someone without kids.

Indeed, let the wheels of progress slowly turn... maybe build an RC10 in the meantime.
The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

Sorry guys for no updates this week. After dealing with a stomach bug earlier this week I'm still trying to catch back up with everything.

Mommy, are we there yet? .....just kidding. Appreciate that Daddeo is going to considerable efforts on our behalf and I don't in any way wish to undermine those efforts. I for one am very grateful!

That said, it seems to me that MIP shouldn't at this stage have too much trouble telling Daddeo whether this is something they are prepared to do or not. They must have a good idea of numbers by now, although frankly in the grand scheme of their business I would expect that it will make no difference to their decision whether there are a 100 takers or 300 takers - neither, I would expect, are significant numbers for their purposes. They must also have a good idea of development costs and RRP (and, therefore, margin) given that they develop related products all the time and have developed a similar product before.

As such, it is not totally clear to me why they are not more forthcoming with a decision. Don't get me wrong, I would really like this project to happen but I'm just a little sceptical at this point given that there has been no positive response as yet. I hope I will be proved wrong...

As to when they will have finished the development proces (assuming they are happy to proceed that is), I think that would be anyone's guess. I would expect it to be quite some time before the product would be ready for sale....

i think if they sold the kit for a reasonable price, say $150 per kit, people would take 2-3 plus extra parts etc, i would.. but at $500 im hesitant to take one to be honest, and ive wanted one for a long time, and was at one time willing to fork over the $1000+ price tag for the kit, but nothing came along when i had the cash in hand.

While I would like to have one, spending half a thousand $$$ on one is just a bit outside for me.

Also not trying to poo poo the efforts, without stuff like this many of the popular Tamiya Re-Re's would not exist....but we are talking about something different then the entire car. I think that the current classic RC car craze is going to be missed on this one...These where not super popular back in the day. For this to be a success the price needs to be under the $200 mark. A very knitch product that is not going to sell by the boat loads...IMHO.

Tamiya on the other hand knows that everyone wants a Rough Rider, Hornet.....and I bet they will build a SandScorcher also....why because all of us 50yr old guys had one back in the day and we let our wifes sell them at garage sales....they may have sold off our RC10's also but those are out there for not much money, you will have to want it bad to cough up 500 beans for a 4x4 convertion.

Just my two bits.
