RC10GT2 Starter

I have a gt2rtr. I want to replace the pull start with a tiger drive # S680 or a #S702. After years of electric's I am going to try a nitro. I already broke the pull start after a few runs. Any comment's would help on how to do away with the pull start.

buy a starter box and you never have to worry about broken strings, leaky back plates with worn bushings, or slipping one-way bearings again.

Starter box is the way to go.

Yeah, go with the start box. My buddy ran a tiger drive until the hex stripped out in it. (about 20 seconds of turning on an almost new engine)

Defintely get a starter box. You will be much happier and save more money in the long run.

Probably used a cheap hex, or wrong sized one. I had tiger drives on a few of my O.S engines and never had a problem other than a little oil from the backplate occasionally slipping the one way. But yeah starter box would be better if you dont mind lugging a 10+ pound box while running your truck. If your a basher I'd get the tiger drive

another alternative is a handheld bumpstarter. Some people hate them and they are kinda hard to get the hang of them but once you get it figured out it will start all of your nitros that have an exposed flywheel instead of setting up one starter box for each of your trucks/buggys.

i was always intrigued by that doohickey that chucked into a drill.

just mastering the proper technique of a pullstart will eliminate alot of problems. at least it did for me...

i havent ran my gt's in years but i learned not to yank the pullstart like you would a lawnmower, i used to just 'flick' it out a couple inches with my fingers and not let it recoil back on its own.

I ended up going with the tiger drive . Since I'm only running it at a local park with a few other nitro trucks that the neighbors own . I didn't want to spend the cash on a starter box. These nitro trucks a alot of fun, but have found out they are messy and need more maintinence that the electric trucks . I think I will just stay with the electric trucks and buggies .
