Love the PB RACING decals.

Where do you get them from???

Are the repo shells as good as the original.??

Love you collection.
Hi Mad Racer,
Funny enough i thought the original shell was from you!
As i saw this post by Mad Racer on Tamiya club for a mini mustang shell (Selling my unpainted Mini Mustang Shell. This is a rare shell that was personally sourced from the Factory after they shut down. They cut it out . Been on my shelfer ever since.

Listed on E Bay.. ) so i won it on ebay from Oz! and yeah the repro shell are excellent, funny thing is i'd emailed Keith at Kamtec about repro mustang shells,he said he was up for making them just needed an uncut original and as i'd just missed out on a uncut original off ebay (it when for £150) i was going to post on TC for help but then Mr lexan comes up with the goods. :P

I realy enjoyed running my Mini Mustang at the vintage meeting at Ryde just recently. Even though I ran some original Dynamite tyres I found the car a pleasure to drive. No slipping belts or diffs to worry about and the car sailed smoothly around the track all day long. Now Ive bolted a CO27 stock motor in to see what the car will perform like under a little more speed.
Its easy to pass these older cars up as there is so much to choose from but for those who perserveer as I have the rewards are out there. For me, I like seeing them run around the track on the original 2.0 rims and running 2.2 modern rims and tyres doesnt realy seem right on such a classic buggy.

Yeh It was my shell you got.

It was my last shell from the factory . The other one is on my PB and the other one went to a dodgy dealer here in Australia. Still waiting payment.

Just glad it went to a good home as these were the last shells from the factory. Hope to get mine up and running in the next 12 months for our annual vintage meet.

Hi guys,
Inspired by Bormac and Darren,i've been trying to sort out my mustang as i've never raced one before not sure what mod's to do until i saw this thread.
Well it was obvious the damper stays needed beefing up,i was in the process of trying to make some but as fate would have it(or just luck)i won a mustang chassis on the bay with improved front damper stays already on!
So i started to fab the rear stays, proving a challenge to do,luck stepped in again and i've just won some JG damper stays on the bay from where else but Oz!
So now i've attempted the bearing mod,it's not perfect(need a better shaft) but i think it's the right idea!
And finally how do you beef up the front hinge pins,i was thinking of extending the grooves whitch the pins sit in and fitting longer pins! cheers Peter.

Nice score on that Mini Mustang you have there. I like the front towers you have on this car, they look more in line with the original design rather than the ugly JG one peice units ive seen.
The bearing mod is cool. I ended up getting some different sized sleeves which were glued in series over some smaller bearings until i ended up with the 14mm i needed. Now nothing slips in my drive train and the car is realy smooth too.
Im looking forward to seeing what comes of this project. i wish you luck. Cheers-Jason

Hi all,
Done a bit more on the mustang, extended the hinge pin slots so the hinge pins can be moved back a couple of mm put a bit of metal in to prevent any movement.
Fitted the rear JG shock tower, started to strip some optima shocks but got distracted when the postie turned up with another maxima and a rather sad looking samurai!

Yeah they are brimrods on the front, the Ace came with crappy wrong size shocks on the front but originals on the rear.
Brimrod's must have been a popular upgrade back in the day as 3 of my mustangs have at least 1 set on!
The maxima i just got also came with some on the front.
The Ace is a really well made buggy apart from the cheese like plastic on all PB's,it's a shame it was a flop because if it was a mid motored car i think it would have done well!

The Brimods shocks may have been for the Schumacher CAT......they do look nice but I remember them to leak badly (Perhaps my friend did not build them properly). However, it would be interesting to see if you replace the original seals with modern silicone o'rings and give the shafts a good polish they may work really well.

I've already stripped a rear set and polished the shafts, replaced the o rings with some "whities" but i haven't tried them yet but you right every set i've got are leaking but i suppose they are at least 20 years old!

Polishing the shafts? Why not put new ones in from a modern shock?
Make sure you get the right size: 3 mm for metric shocks and 3.2mm for imperial
