looking for opinions... best "new" replacement shocks.
What new (or at least readily available) shocks make good replacements for the old RC10 without breaking the bank?
I'm wondering about this:

if you are just looking for good replacement shocks and don't care about period correct, they should be a great replacement part.

which "old" rc10 do you want them for...... one with short or long arms? your not really gonna want to put .56"s on the front of a long arm car.

Yeah, I have the CE with longer front arms. I see now that shocks from tower are the same size as the earlier RC10 - I didn't even realize the front shocks were different sizes between the wide and non-wide versions (until now). Has anyone found a near-to-stock suitable replacement for the front shocks for a wide arm RC10 ?scr8p wrote:which "old" rc10 do you want them for...... one with short or long arms? your not really gonna want to put .56"s on the front of a long arm car.

Associated still sells the .71 shock kit:

I purchased a set from them about a month or so ago.

don't forget to order a set of these too:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLX04&P=7
The shock kits do not come with springs, preload spacers, or upper/lower spring retainers.

They are the team shocks as scr8p mentioned, but the color has changed a bit over the years. The color of the latest sets I've ordered were the newer silver/grey finish. I've seen some of the other sizes still at hobby shops in the older olive/green color, but as far as I can tell, all of the team shock bodies coming from Associated these days are the grey ones.
Of course, this information is only important if you care if the color of the fronts and rears are a close match.
