Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
A picture is worth a thousand words! Especially if it says "Speed Control" on it. My mistake was thinking Curtis' car was the box art car. His car has the box art body, but his car is different.

Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
HELLO MY NAME IS DON,
THE reason I am writing to ya is first to say hil . I have heard a lot of good things about you and your willing to answer questions if someone is having a problem.
OK ON a stock RC 10 T truck That my wife has when everthing is set up right in the transmision area. Have you or any body ran across no matter what spure your truck has it will stirp , We are useing new RC 10 T spure gears. she has gone though many spures gears. We run a hard clay track here in Portland Oregon. WE have both have been racing for the last 18 years. Just a few months ago I restarted a Vintage class, It is slowly starting to grow.
OK I have another RC 10 T truck and finely went up to an T 4 sprue gear set and have stop striping sprue gears. So do you have any answers to what may be going on. HER truck is set right from the way were suppose to have it,
She likes her truck and that is how we set it up, Mind is change a lot but still an RC 10 T.
So if you can help with any answers I Will be very gratefull. Thankyou for any help on this problem DON THE Rustbucket

You should go immediately to rc10.com and click on the link to Support >> Contact Team Associated and send your problem. I'm sorry you had to go through many spur gears before discovering an answer!

Those decals were removed due to copyright restrictions.rctenracer wrote:why not the ds box art decals in the mustang kit? still looking for all sport decals.love the car just wished the decals for the box art were there.

Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
Was it the Allsport (I think it is Pepsi products) or the Roush Racing restrictions that made it not feasible?
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
Thanks Steve... just wondering as I worked for Roush for 10 years, just not on the racing side, more development engineering for Ford and Ford SVT. Was a big fan of the Trans Am effort though and before that the IMSA effort.
Thanks again.

Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
No need to apologize. I would imagine it would be on the Pepsi side. They seem to be "more corporate" than Jack would be about the whole thing, but you never know.
Thanks again.

Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
Steve, is there any chance you will be doing a book about Gene Husting's Associated 1/8 scale on-road cars that he was so involved with during the late 60's, 70's and 80's. I've been watching the Gene Husting video's and the one thing I wish is that he could have taken more time for pictures and technical descriptions of these wonderful on-road cars and possibly even the terchnical innovations and special parts that were developed for them. Thanks.

Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
I did a photo book on the RC300 and RC500, which is now at lulu.com. Unfortunately, his memory is not as good as it was (he's 82 years old), so he can't remember any of the details of the vehicles. He's been involved in so many projects that they sort of blur together.
Are there other vehicles you had in mind besides the RC300 and RC500? I don't think he has the RC1 on hand, unfortunately.
Thanks,
Steve

The 1/12th scale stuff would be great Rc12e rc12i I think I speak for alot of the guys here on that. Also I think the more usefull pics would be any of the factory parts and things like that for restoration.

Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
Well, I am 20 years his junior and my memory isn't that good either, I totally understand. I had forgotten about this new book and so Lulu just got a new order. Thanks so much for these books I really appreciate your efforts. In the videos your dad mentions Brian early on and then Curtis and of course we know about you, I was just wondering how many siblings there are and are they also involved in the RC industry? As far as the RC1 wasn't that Steve Curtis original Associated car and when Gene became a partner they eventually came out with the RC100, RC200, then RC250, etc. so does he still retain all these earlier cars? Also, I agree with Ryan the early 1/12 scale cars RC12e, RC12i and RC12L would be a great next project for you.WebSteve wrote:I did a photo book on the RC300 and RC500, which is now at lulu.com. Re: If you could ask Gene Hustings...
hello guys thought this question should go here, please move if incorrect..
steve i bought this body and the discription below was written in the auction. any truth to it or too hard to say? are there any of your books left?
This was purchased in the US directly from Associated and was painted by legendary RC racer Curtis Husting (son of Gene Husting one of the founders of Team Associated).
