Modern 12th scale body on a vintage 12th scale car?
Been doing a lot of searching up and down the net for 12th scale bodies for my 12e rebuild and coming up with very few choices but one thing I noticed was modern bodies (GTP in particular) appear to be very low slung bodies to fit the modern pan cars. Do the modern protoform speed 12 or parma speed 8's even fit on the older 12's or are my eyes decieving me? Any place to find anything other than GTP bodies for 12's besides McAllister's (I don't care much for stock cars)?

I know a great body that would look beautiful on an RC12e, it's called a Schkee maybe someone has the mold for that body and will run a set for a few good people.

That is a cool looking body. I'd LOVE to find an old '32 three window coupe like I used to run years ago or something like McAlisters street stock 1/10 bodies. I don't mind GTP bodies, but it seems just too common. All I've seen thus far for 12s are GTP, stock car, late model stock (which is kind of growing on me) and outlaw stock. Then of course there's the Tam Tech bodies. Hmmm, would it be a sacrilege to put a Midnight Pumkin body on a vintage 12e?a01butal wrote:I know a great body that would look beautiful on an RC12e, it's called a Schkee maybe someone has the mold for that body and will run a set for a few good people.![]()

That's not a GTP body it's a Can Am I know because I worked on that car back in the 70's, ok sorry not trying to jump on you but a 12e and 12i was more of a sporty car chassis than a 3 window coupe. Here's a pic of the car when we raced at Road Atlanta bitd.

No problem I understand. What I meant was that basic GTP-like shape. I'm not familiar with the correct class terminology. I'm not sure what I'll end up with, just weighing my options. Still woking on getting the peices to get it running. I just remembered the '32 coupe from the old days. My Dad ran a '66 Corvette 1/10. But am I right about the modern Protoform bodies being too low for the 12e chassis?

I dropped a current protoform body that I custom canned on my 12L just to check it out... with the body low enough to make it work, the body just rubs the top of the rear spring post

Smitty has the 12e with a prominent radio tray which gets in the way of mounting the GTP bodies. I'm sure there is something out there that will fit your car and your fancy. I'll look around also.

No, someone doesn't... but he could make a mold.
