Re: Bag-O-Parts SRT

20241110_015855.jpg

All done. I forgot to order a body so I'll have to order one. All in all this truck came out pretty good.

Re: Take Two - Plan B Race Truck

Shocks finally arrived for this, I think I had a bit of a win too as I believe the shocks were originally off an FT truck as they have unobtanium shock shafts. I can live with that, lol. The shocks were pretty cheap too and look new. I still need to rebuild them but they look good. The big dilemma i...

Keep going

These are awesome radios. I thought the cord was basically just a buddy box cable.

Re: best way to remove solder from motor cans?

Pick yourself up a solder wick, works wonders.

Also make sure your iron is up to the task, a 25w pencil tip iron won't cut it. Use an 80w flat tip, basically the same as what you'd use to solder batteries and 12g connectors would be fine.

Re: best way to remove solder from motor cans?

I find the wick works best when it's slightly tinned, don't cut the copper braid off at clean copper but where it starts to discolor from previous wicking. Melt the solder on the can as you would when you tin the joint to make a connection, then press the braid into the solder with the iron. Keep in...

Here we go again.....

What do you do when you have 89.7% of a complete truck? You build another one..... a runner ! After all was said and done it turned out I had a bunch of leftover parts including some pretty fancy ones at that. All I had to do was order another Factory Works conversion and a pair of slash rear arms. ...

Re: Here we go again.....

Shock towers, rear bulkhead, turnbuckles and the likes....

No fancy titanium turnbuckles but the Traxxas ones look pretty good on there and suit the build.

Re: Here we go again.....

This is where the build starts to stray a bit from my other ones..... The gearbox.... Since I went big when I planned to race these things I bought three sealed gear diffs so I could have different oils in them ready to swap out at the track..... until I found out they were over twice the weight of ...

Re: Here we go again.....

I had a complete RPM gearbox so I cut the ears off just like I do for the Hot Racing cases. 20241212_224234.jpg The RPM case is said to eat idler gears but when I tried to research it further I'm not so sure it's as big of a deal as claimed. I'll give it a try and make my own opinion. I went with th...

Re: Here we go again.....

First of all, why’d you cut off the ears on the tranny case? I am sure you are aware yourself, those use a longer screw from the arm mounts to stecht to. It should work with either the RPM mount or the Traxxas Nitro rustler mounts. Perhaps some shaving or shimming required. The RPM wide arms make t...
