Old RC10 Mid Motor Conversion Kit or One Off?

Post by cjack »

I saw this RC10 mid motor conversion on eBay today. Not very sophisticated with the exposed spur gear. Just curious if this was a mass produced kit or a one off?

I have an on road car with a similar transmission setup. It had a homemade lexan gear cover added.

Hard to tell, definitively (for me at least), but it looks like a Trackmaster belt drive conversion. The quality of the conversion fit and finish was up to the owner that installed the transmission. Hole placement accuracy, chassis modification, etc. That cut and contoured relief in the chassis on the motor side looks pretty tastefully executed. Exposed spur gears were somewhat common bitd.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Oh yeah, duh. That explains the presence of all those GEARS. I zeroed in on the side plates and chassis mounting flanges. Thanks for the assist!
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Both are cool! I love on road gear case cars. Definitely my favorite class of all time! I was poking around with my rc stuff today and on road gear case really boiled to the top of my interest. :D TQ10 tires on that first model. 8)
