Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)
I worked in a hobby store back then and that pretty much matches what I remember. I turned my Frog into an absolute beauty of a car, painting the body black with nice lime green and electric blue stripes, aftermarket wheels, You-G blue anodized aluminum nerf bars, Thorp diff, a better motor--I belie...

Re: Really sad news....
RIP shodog and my condolences to the family. You chat with, view posts, and become virtual friends with many members of a forum that you never actually meet. It's terrible news to lose one of our own. That Rough Rider avatar will forever be burned into my memory.

Re: A new project - Nichimo Spirit FF - The first of a kind
The Nichimo Spirit FF drives terribly on anything other than a smooth asphalt surface, unfortunately. The radiator mainly functioning as a nose weight is to help, but the car still just spins the front tires unless the surface is very high-grip. It's a rare and valuable oddity to add to your collect...

Re: Wondering about the new old buggies
Understeer was a problem with the Optima. On hard acceleration, it would just push instead of turn. On one of my resto-mod builds, Barney, that issue was helped by swapping the front arms with Maxxum FF front arms, installing rear arms from GPM that were about 5mm longer, and 68mm CVDs instead of th...

Re: Concept 4:10
That's a great-looking project, Derek. I'm a big believer in using up spare parts lying around to make something new and unique.

Re: 10th scale my @$$
Is it like womens pants, where they just put on whatever size they feel like? Women's dresses are no better. I can try on a Tory Burch in one size and pick out a similar Liz Claiborne and have to go up as much as 2 sizes... :? Sorry, it seems I missed that joke in 2016 and didn't want to lose the s...

Re: Brushed motors display stand
Eventually I too would like to display my motors, I’ve always wondered if a Hot Wheels/ Matchbox wall display case would work out nicely. I do plan on finding out. Figured maybe use clear cabinet door bump stops to keep them from rolling out when the case is opened. 4E617FD8-3833-4E4B-A13F-A34954A8...

Re: Turbo Optima mid SE
My Novak1 was DOA and the Novak T4 really did not fit very good. The orange anodize on the Spektrum A5070 servo needed something to balance the look. Also the amp draw on the servo is pretty high so I got a Spektrum Firm ESC, BEC has 7.4V and 4amps available for the servo. Tucks in the chassis abou...

Re: Today, A Stupid Person...
You could dedicate a completely separate thread just for stupid drivers. The other day, some idiot starts changing into my lane, when I'm right there beside him . But not only that, when I laid on the horn, he just ignored it and kept on changing into my lane ANYWAY. I had to hit the brakes and let ...

Re: The original 1987 Winning Kyosho Ultima Machine up close
Cool. One thing that sticks out at me is how much of that car is comprised of OEM Ultima/Kyosho Option House parts. It seems to fly in the face of all the people claiming how "heavily modded" it was.
I think he could've pared down that excess weight from the servo horn tho'...

Re: The "My Current Version of My First Car" Thread
Here's my original Kyosho Optima. It started out as a regular Optima. Me and a buddy who both worked at a LHS got into racing, he had a Turbo Optima. We bought a Kyosho Salute as a parts car (he wanted the body, I wanted the Turbo Optima upgrade parts), so I upgraded my Optima to a Turbo Optima. I t...

Re: What is the rarest R/C part you have
Over the years, I've accumulated more than a few very rare items, but not sure how to define "how rare is rare?"... My Lucas Agitator Pro-10 was pretty rare to begin with, but throw in the LiteSink and pair of Sees wheels, not to mention a full set I tracked down later, and it becomes even...

Re: Who needs LiPo?!
Good info, but one major downside to NiMH batteries that hasn't been mentioned is they lose their ability to take a full charge over time. That NiMH battery you haven't used for 3 years probably won't last more than a minute on a full charge anymore. Every cordless tool with NiMH batteries suffers t...
