Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
Something for the DS so I can run standard 1/10 pan car wheels and more RPM ballcups.

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
Got a couple parts from across the pond from Chimera for the Ultima and more locally a set of tires for the NRC buggies.
The brass bulkhead is pretty hefty @ 119g.

Re: NRC-24 1/24scale RC10 replica
While my NRC24's electronics were taken for the K24 I still haven't stopped doing stuff to it. Recently it got a fresh body painted up and I made some mini Turbo Scorpion wheels for it to match it's larger sibling. IMG_20240828_172253685_HDR.jpg I did notice that the rear track width of this car was...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build
I went with the 17.5T motor, as that and the 21.5T are said to be the only accepted choices for some racing classes (not sure about any of that), 17.5T seemed like a safe bet. That is the case here. 17.5 was the limit in most of the classes at the carpet oval. The thing to watch, though, is if it i...

Re: Rogue's JJ Ultima retrofuture edition
Got some goodies in the mail yesterday from Chimera Model Sport, a brass front bulkhead and aluminum rear pin block this should help getting the car to legal weight. The bulkhead is 106g heavier than the 13g plastic one. Putting the weight where I need it, the nose. IMG_20240903_152636508.jpg IMG_20...

Re: Source Nix91 "Replica" Parts Without Shapeways??
Niki had an impressive catalog of RC10 parts available through Shapeways but now that they're gone, I really hope he is able to locate another printing service to work with. If we lived in a perfect world, we could offer our designs for home printing and trust they wouldn't subsequently be stolen f...

Re: Team Losi Hydra-Drive
They also took a bit of strain off the gears in the transmission as the hydradrive smooths out power delivery and the shocks when wheels are traveling on rough ground or landing jumps on power (or on braking). I'd just advise against using one with low turn modified motors as excessive power can mel...

Re: Rogue's JJ Ultima retrofuture edition
Decided to fix the issue i was having with the front spring cups hitting the front suspension arms on droop. Changed the AE eyelets down to 0 form +2s and used springs and cups from the Schumacher L1R. The Schumacher springs are tapered at one end so the spring perch is more around the size of class...

Re: Ultima Worlds Spec
I agree with others; the peppermint color isn't my thing but it is a great looking car, always liked the lines of Ultimas. Is this basically the same chassis as the vintage Optima re-re with a carbon top deck and bronze anodizing? Did the US get the JJ Ultima or am I just late to the party seeing i...

Re: Next up- The Halsey edition RC10
Does one go this route to build a stealth? Or maybe it's easier to get the FanRC one? 🧐 Id hold off on the FanRc until he sorts the gritty diff plates and fixes the gear mesh issue. As much as I hate to say it, the AE trans is probably the way to go for now at least. Good to know.. thank you.. what...

Re: Yz-834b re re thoughts
To be fair modern polymers are way better than they were in the 80s so the ribs may not be needed.
I actually put off getting one of these in favor of an optima mainly because I want to build something and the 834b is mostly assembled.
May get one later on but not now.

Re: DS tires F1 vs Associated rubber tires
I know with the DS tires I have an issue with the rear sidewalls rubbing on the suspension but they are pretty soft and offer pretty good traction on asphalt, but seem to wear pretty fast. Also, the supplied front foams are too soft in my opinion.
Not sure if the F104 tires fix any of that.

Re: Team Losi XX-4
Easily one of the best 4wd buggies of all time. So good Losi revisted the design later as the TLR 22-4.
Granted working on them is a bit more of a challenge and the front arms were a bit of a weak point.
