Re: RC10 Classic 40th anniversary

Anyone know the name of the condition, or sickness, that compels one to build the wheels first, with every model? https://i.imgur.com/CFTap5r.jpg Can't quit doing this. Cart before the horse syndrome? IDK but I did the same thing and I'm not even using the wheels right now. They're just so cool loo...

Re: So, what did you do RC today?

Painted the wing and mounted up the body for my 870c. Gave up on trying to get paint into the sides of the wing and just ended up painting the exterior of it, doesn't look too bad, just less shiny than the body.

Re: RC10 Classic 40th anniversary

Well after rattling around a bunch of different paint ideas, and looking at Vintage Funco race buggies I decided on a simple paint scheme for my RC10. Didn't feel like dealing with liquid mask this time around so decided to do things like I would have done way back when, using masking tap and spray ...

Re: Franken Dead Pool DS-ish Car, restomod version

So that Futaba ESC that went up in smoke was 100% my fault. Reverse polarity is a bad thing. Oops. That's ok though, I really don't like the single speed reverse and wanted Lipo protection. The DS chassis setup is working pretty well... . 1000011036.jpg . ... until I see that it gives me too long o...

Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood

Built the 6-gear for TDP car, and the 40th. https://i.imgur.com/PUPkn6V.jpg Using the asc6693 spur, I have two leftover diff balls from the inner ring. The outer ring I wouldn't have enough of these. https://i.imgur.com/4vx8c3C.jpg Was I supposed to buy more diff balls to use this 48p? what do you ...

Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood

My memory is failing but aren't the inner holes for screwing the gear to a slipper clutch? I think if you've fully populated the outer set of holes, you should be good. For reference, an early AE spur only holds 8 balls so installing more is just a bonus. There's only (6) inner holes, and (12) oute...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear

I've never read the manual for the early RC10, I do have it in PDF, just didn't know that was in there. It's a great idea, and seeing as I'm going to be rebuilding a lot of shocks in the near future, I want to do this to all of them. Much thanks for letting me know this is how it was done! Funny pa...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear

Funny part is they didn't add that part of the instructions to the 40th manual and only show 2 small spacers on the shaft, no surprise if you run the car that way the axles hit the arms which led me to look up the old instructions. https://i.imgur.com/w1eK5fD.jpg There are a couple big differences ...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear

There are a few reasons that any well built trans will not spin for the purported 15 seconds. Friction from the felt seals And more notably the grease in the bearings. Also excessive side play in both the idlers and out drives that can cause the gears to wobble. With the felt seals removed and all ...

Re: RC10 Classic 40th anniversary

About the chassis it is certainly thinner and lighter than the original. It's like the CC. I don't have the classic reissue so can't comment on that one. Do you have actual thickness numbers to support the thinner claim? From my research, I have heard the 40th is as thick as an original variant. I ...
