Re: 2014 Beetle
Just a few more pics in better light. The color reminds me of the "Chrome Yellow" that Ford used on Mustangs in the late 90's. My brother had a 98 Cobra in that color. Screenshot_20210802-142639_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20210802-142618_Gallery.jpg And some with the body and inner cover remov...

Re: Chris VanAir 2016 inspired build
The Traxxas parts are made for 3mm shafts. The older AE shafts are 1/8", which is slightly larger.
I have reamed the spacers to 1/8" before.

Re: Traxxas cars... I get it now
The only thing I've broken on my Stampede is a bent kingpin, and I was amazed that it was all that was damaged. It was running full speed and I misjudged a turn, clipping the jack on my car hauler. It hit the one tire hard enough to send it (the truck) flying through the air.

Re: Long term project
Finally got a little paint on this one. The primary color is Tamiya brilliant blue with Duratrax metallic black and silver streak. I also did some mixing of modern and vintage decals, seemed appropriate. Screenshot_20210807-180608_Gallery.jpg I still need to add some velcro for the front body mounts...

Re: Vintage RC10 body identification
It's what it says, a 6160 Pro Tech body. Its for a short arm, gold pan.
If it feels thin, brittle, and crack prone, it might be original. If not, it's probably a re-re.
I'm about to order a Boki copy for my short arm car.

Re: How much torque does a 10t steering servo need?
If the ratings of that servo are remotely close, it should be more than enough. I'd check for bind in the bellcranks. Its easy to over-tighten them. If you are using original 10T length bellcranks, the geometry on them is horrible. A set of buggy bellcranks, mounted in the foreword holes is much bet...

Re: What's your favorite & least favorite steps when building a new kit?
Oddly enough, I like building shocks. With vintage AE shocks, bleeder caps make it much easier. I dislike painting, especially trucks. Masking the bed and roll bar area drives me nuts. And I just so happen to be working on one right now. Not necessarily new kit related, but I enjoy rebuilding brushe...

Re: Just bought this heap on ebay
Finally got around to throwing some paint on this thing. It has been sitting with a clear body for a while. The body is a JConcepts F-150. I chose the Tamiya cobalt green because I had a similar colored F-150 many years ago, the wheels were even similar. 20210809_183857.jpg 20210809_183847.jpg I sti...

Re: Ebay graphite purchase
Got the body all trimmed and clearanced. Also got the wing mounted. The body is a Jammin Jumper from Sabula Tech with a JConcepts Finnisher wing, and old style Traxxas wing buttons. 20210810_194453.jpg Now I've just got to decide on a paint scheme and colors. I'm thinking a Spaz Stix color change pa...

Re: Outlaw Ultima truck purchase – my very first ST
The plastic shocks are rebuildable, sorta. Similar to an AE top load shock, they have a internal retaining clip.
I have a set of those shocks. I removed the clip with the mini screwdriver, through the shaft hole. After cleaning the body, I reinstalled the components with a new o ring.

Re: Turnigy Trackstar 80A Runaway
It's been my experience that gyros act weird in any kind of rough stuff. Of course, I bought a cheap Chinesium one. I don't know if it was picking up vibration from my Trencher tires on my Rustler, but it wiggled constantly when driving straight. I tried mounting it in the middle of the chassis, th...

Re: My B3 project
I never really paid much attention to how big the B2 and B3 windows are, those are huge.
At least if you do decide to use an original style body, JConcepts makes both of them.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
It's a Rustler, just an older one.
The older carriers used tiny 5x8 bearings. I'd replace them with newer ones, with the stronger 5x11 bearings.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
I googled Rustler images but, based upon style of wheels and body, all of them appear to be the more modern version. My son's truck is ~10 years old. It has the newer grey chassis and larger wheels. It is an XL-5 version with the yellow esc, made at the transition to the TRX battery plug. Also had ...
