Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
nice video and nice jump! I wish the track I take the scorp to had the hard compacted sand like in your video. Maybe i'll look for that because the clay has so much traction it's kinda scary. on a different note. Has anyones scorpion's front end develop excessive slop throughout all the parts? (arms...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
oh no, i haven't had any broken parts except for the roll bar and the plastic roll cage that attaches to the roll bar and the body. This is from attempting a triple and landing roof side down… The scorp is nearly bulletproof. The real issue i'm having that's preventing me from tracking it is a glitc...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
I have taken my scorpion to a blue groove track (clay) without any modification to the tires and it handled pretty well. wish i did have proper tires but this is my first car on the track. on a side note, unless the buggy has a perfect landing, it tends to bottom out and bounce pretty easily and los...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Update on the sleeving/slop elimination for the front end. As my previous post states i went ahead and drilled out all areas on the arms and knuckles and inserted the appropriate sized sleeve. the slop is completely eliminated. I made a slight mistake and overdrilled/flared one end of a knuckle and ...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Lars, Thanks for the information. I will verify where it is set at using this method. Aside from the camber setting i think the knuckles and all other connecting parts within the suspension arms have developed excessive wear from crashes, landings, and just bashing which add to even more camber from...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
The shaft is set to the largest mark on the shaft (I believe factory setting) should that equate to a zero camber setting?

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
My best guess would be the cast aluminum arms. It´s possible to bend the shaft but it should be hardend steel. Dismantle the front end and lay the shaft on a flat surface. It should have full contact regardless of what´s up and down. Next is to draw an outline and flip the shaft. Finally it could j...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Ron, I went ahead and purchased some teflon tubing. I was able to find the correct sizes for the job (took a while). The company is called fluorostore (sp) and they sell tubing by the foot and have a very extensive catalog. I went with: 3mmID x 4mmOD for the rear suspension arms, 4mmIDx5mmOD for the...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Ron, That sounds doable for the suspension arms, I'll give that a try. I plan to sleeve the steering knuckles as well and the other end of the suspension arm (where it accepts the kingpin elbow bolt). Should I not be worried about alignment issues when drilling those two other pieces? The drill leng...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
i'm wondering if there is anything i can fabricate to ensure that the drill bit stays centered throughout the whole drilling operation. Is there anything out here on the market for this application in lieu of a drill press?

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
I have been searching mcmaster care's catalog for a brass or teflon sleeve but have had no luck. it appears as though only the outside diameter are in whole measurements while the inner diameter is the off dimension. Ideally would like to find a tube with a .5 MM wall thickness. I found something on...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Ron,
That sounds like a great solution to this problem, didn't even think about it. I will start to look for possibly a teflon lining that can can slip between those gaps.

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
I haven't had any issues with the open ended ball ends. They have never popped off on me, surprisingly. The slop is definitely not from this part of the suspension as far as i'm able to observe. But I do think dirt is probably making its way in between parts and wearing out quickly. I try to rebuil...
