Re: RC10 CE baja bug project
It's the baja bug/scorcher clone, WB is a little short but I trimmed the rear fenders off for clearance and was able to shift it forward to split the difference.JK Racing wrote:Which Parma Beetle is that? Looks the right size all around

Re: RC10 CE baja bug project
A bit of nylon block drilled and tapped in the front and some aluminum angle in the back for the body mounts... http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l123/notarex/Mobile%20Uploads/20160321_193414_zpsvogzs0m8.jpg I think it looks decent, now for paint http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l123/notarex/Mobile...

Re: RC10 CE baja bug project
Hey, you're harshing my mellow dude  . I agree, the bugs not the best choice for racing, I had to add a wing to my Optima to get it to fly right. http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l123/notarex/Mobile%20Uploads/FB_IMG_1454296312509_zpsgfwmhx0c.jpg Truth is, I'm just going to be bopping aroun...

Re: RC10 CE baja bug project
Electronics are in, bulkhead replaced, shocks rebuilt with fresh o-rings and green slime. Thanks to vintageguy for the motor! http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l123/notarex/Mobile%20Uploads/20160314_182240_zpsjot42mwa.jpg http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l123/notarex/Mobile%20Uploads/2016031...

Re: RC10 CE baja bug project
Thanks, it is! Just how I like it, just scraped up enough that I don't feel bad running it. I will probably shed a tear when I scuff up those fresh aluminum rims though :( . Got some parts in today including servo mounting hardware and a bulkhead that will fit a lipo- sweet. http://i95.photobucket.c...

RC10 CE baja bug project
Thanks to CraigB on the site here, I'm the proud new owner of this here goldpan CE. I've been reliving my childhood by rebuilding and racing Kyosho optimas (my first rc), but I had a 6 gear goldpan too that was no slouch 25 years ago. I built a RB5 buggy for my daughter, and wanted something to run ...

Re: Optima is back!!
13.5T will be perfect. I ran one in my belt drive optima with the hardened FP and it was good to go.

Re: Optimas in the new world.
They do just fine, although more suited for a loose dirt like the tracks used to be. It's a good amount of weight to be slinging through the air so things will break and I've found them not as forgiving as a modern car launching and landing. At mild speeds, a lot of fun- but turn up the juice and yo...

Re: Optima for Vonats 2015
Words can't express how thrilled I am that it went to a great home. I'm equally pleased that it will continue racing. It's funny, my first Optima that I got when I was a kid is in France- it had the full gold kit also. I sold it on Ebay probably 15 years ago to someone in Paris. I hope you are holdi...

Re: Optima for Vonats 2015
I got the weight of the rear motor equal to the mid, but the weight in back hurts. I think the arm length and suspension geometry is the biggest detriment. I talked with someone else there who thought a Laser zx would probably be competitive as it solves these problems. For me, the XX4 is too new/ad...

Re: Optima for Vonats 2015
After action report: I got hammered in 4wd. Not only were they better drivers, my cars were way outclassed. The belt drive rear motor was laughable, the mid slightly less so. The xx4 was the chassis to beat for sure. In Classics I fared better, consistently qualifying well once I got the gearing sor...

Re: Optima for Vonats 2015
Two more weeks! I don't have time to finish the carbon fiber frame rails for this one, maybe next year. I did add Andy's knuckles with the flanged bearings and pinned cvds from an old Team C buggy. It ended up widening the track by 6mm total up front. Tires are jconcepts 1.7s on vaterra wheels. Body...
