Optimas in the new world.
I had an Optima way back in the mid 80's, the original one. Now that they are re-releasing them, I've been looking them over. They *seem* to have relatively long a-arms. I'm wondering if that suspension could handle, or be adapted to handle, modern RC tracks? Has anyone run a vintage one on a current large jump track?
Re: Optimas in the new world.
They do just fine, although more suited for a loose dirt like the tracks used to be. It's a good amount of weight to be slinging through the air so things will break and I've found them not as forgiving as a modern car launching and landing. At mild speeds, a lot of fun- but turn up the juice and you'll be wishing for modern suspension geometry.
