Re: 48P Optima Mid LWB conversion a success.
I have a Turbo Optima mid. I believe it’s the SWB version. Would you be able to tell me what other accessories I would need to get to adapt the 48P conversion? Is it only a question of getting the LWB baseplate? Regards; I am so sorry, I only just seen your question. Yes you need the upper and lowe...

Re: 48P Optima Mid LWB conversion a success.
The stress on the belt and transmission in General does not come from the motor only but also from the grip on the track. There are also different kinds of belts, made from different materials (polyurethane, propylene) but of the same size. Maybe some kinds are not tough enough or suitable for othe...

Re: 48P Optima Mid LWB conversion a success.

Love the old-school drifting driving style! hope you don't race like this otherwise your competitors will drive inside everytime  nice work! The track is extremely bumpy thats why ...

48P Optima Mid LWB conversion a success.
Ok after about 2 years of R & D, which included the testing and eventual ruling out of the twin belt system on the Optima Mid, I am glad to announce the success of my 48P conversion. Special thanks to Linus from Sweden who worked with me to suggest gears suitable for this conversion. Currently o...

Re: Twin Belt Optima Mid
Sad to report that the twin belt system is a failure, the short rear belt simply cannot take the loads of driving the rear wheels as well as the fronts. Concurrently I have also developed a 48P internal gear conversion that uses new gearboxes which also uses the new re re optima gear diffs, and a fi...

Use 200,000 to 500,000 diff oil you're all set, always use harder oil for front diff.

Re: Twin Belt Optima Mid
Tested the twin belt mid and no belt slipping or failures at all! Did ruin one esc by soldering for too long, and damaged the rear gearbox from backflipping and landing on the wing mounts many many times, thanks to the lip of the jump that was designed for 1/8 cars. Most important thing was the twin...

Re: Twin Belt Optima Mid
For The Optima ,I thought about it in more detail and it is possible ! It's possible if both the internal and external gears be converted to belt. You cannot convert either one only. When both are converted, both will move in the same direction, then this will work !

Re: Twin Belt Optima Mid
Ahh. I just studied the gears you were talking about..and i am afraid its impossible to convert to belt both inside and outside. This is because internally the optima only has 2 gears. So one gear turns in the opposite direction of the other..hence impossible with a belt drive. It is also impossible...

Re: Twin Belt Optima Mid
Wow, very nice mod! I'd definitely get one of these once the kinks are ironed out! :) Would a system like this work on a vintage Turbo Optima as well? Well not directly but should be possible. Problem is i dont have an optima to base my design on.These last few months the main problem is the tooth ...
