Re: Resurrecting/Modernizing Your Vintage R/C's Electronics
If I wanted a Reedy Sonic 540 Mach 2 13.5T or LRP X20 BL Modified 13.5T, what are some examples of ESC's I should be looking at and are there some additional components I NEED or should have as well? Honestly, I've chosen those two because they "look good." I know nothing. Whatever ESC yo...

Re: Resurrecting/Modernizing Your Vintage R/C's Electronics
I like the "look" of those Tekin units....not that that really matters I guess. RC104ever is very local to me so I might be stopping by his place to look at what he's got. The Castle Mamba Max he recommends, by comparison, seems to have amazing specs but it looks like a bit of a hokey doke...

Hmmm, possibly.
I keep thinking the name started with an 'A' though, whether that was the manufacturer or the model name itself.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
I'm racking my brain trying to remember what me and my brother's best friends' had. We had our RC10 and they had a Hornet and this other 4WD chain drive car that I thought was pretty awesome. That's all I can remember about it though other than I think they painted it like the box and it was mostly ...

Re: hello from canada!
what chassis do all you guys have? i'm putting together my mbx5r now : ) Before finding this site a week ago if somebody asked me that I'd say "I have an RC10." I had NO IDEA there was such a history, so many variations and such a massive cult following. My chassis has an A stamp. Does th...

Re: hello from canada!
Wow, Oakville and Burlington guys. I grew up in the former and now live in the latter. Marlo, not sure how old you are or from what part of Oakville, but we used to race our RC cars on a pretty cool track on land which is now Ford Drive between Aspen Forest and Devon. That was mid 80's after we boug...

Re: Resurrecting/Modernizing Your Vintage R/C's Electronics
Glad I found this thread because I did exactly what the first post says -- found my old RC10 'A stamp' (?) in my parents' basement and am in the process of completely rebuilding it. I'm afraid though that you're going to have to dumb it down even more for this dummy! If I wanted a Reedy Sonic 540 Ma...

What do you mean by that? Actually don't like the look of it, or don't like amateur attempts at replicating it?scr8p wrote:ya, the master of despise.

Re: Original Boxart RC10 Orange
Is there there a Rit dye colour or combination of colours that comes close to this?
Thinking of paint matching the wheels and ball rod ends.

I'm rebuilding a vintage RC10 we had as kids that I found in my parents' basement and have ordered a new body because, as I mentioned, we were kids and we painted ours like kids. Looks terrible. haha What brand and colour orange is that for the box art car? Do you (or the layman I mean...yours are w...

Re: Recommendations for dyeing plastics
Great, thanks. Too bad there's not a white dye to make older parts look new again. I'll see what just (near) boiling them does for cleaning up and rejuvenating them. Has it been discussed on here what Rit dye combinations and available hobby paint colours can closely match each other and, specifical...

Re: Recommendations for dyeing plastics
Does Rit dye make the plastic/nylon parts more brittle? I've read that (near) boiling them can rejuvenate old parts, but I'm wondering what effect the dye itself has, if any. Also, how long does the benefit of boiling last? Do the parts return to their old state after a short time or does th boiling...

Re: Help Me Rebuild My Original RC10
Also keep in mind that the re-re has no front antiroll bar, and the original box stock suspension setup was way too soft anyway. Ya I've got the anti-roll bar. Can't believe they made you solder the ball ends on. LOL So if the original box setup was way too soft, and I'm going to be adding new, hea...
