Re: Kyosho Raider rebuild
Hey, Richie, they work great, it all depends on what angle they are set at. It will not break unless you hit a wall at 40-50mph! I put those struts there more for appearance than structural integrity but it serves both purpose very well! I never stay stock, I always modify my RC stuff cause it makes...

Re: Kyosho Raider rebuild
YOU COULD USE ALUMINUM TUEBS WITH 3MM INTERNAL THREADS on both ends or do it yourself, the diameter would be 4-4.5mm. I would rather go with the carbon fiber tubes, stronger and way lighter. The sleeve I got was from old VHS video tapes, if you have some, open them up, the thin long screws that hold...

Re: Kyosho Raider rebuild
check out a few more pics of the raider here, Yes its custom made, those are fiberglass rods or tubes, crack easily, took a 3mm 12-15mm long machine screw, cut out the head and slot it in the tube with steel epoxy. The metal bits are metal sleeve that I have to use in order for the fiber glass to no...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
I have the scorpion and I have it with a beetle body - sand scorcher body, had to cut the ladder chassis short by 1.5cm to get the scorchers wheel base. It looks pretty good, bought the original sand scorcher body, than I got the re=release body so so that I could cut the fenders off and give it tha...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
CHKTM - great INFO, THANKS! I love the the way the guy describes everything, poetic, we are all on the same page here, Yeap the scorp was designed to be a light buggy, that is what makes it have such a complicated design and form, very interesting and realistic. I am glad the re-release stayed true ...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Also using carbon fiber and replacing your aluminum parts helps a lot, I bought a 1.5mm sheet and cut that to make the triangular plates that hold the rear trailing arms, the gearbox mount etc and bought the front servo saver mount, these are like 30%-40% lighter than the aluminum parts you have as ...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
CHKTM - i AGREE seen how she moves, the slow mo vids are SO SO MUCH needed to see what it is doing, the suspension travel and all that, I LOVE IT. Wonder who initially designed the scorp??? What kind of person or team were they? Such brilliance, that is why I LOVE vintage RC so much. Such ingenuity....

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
I would say its because of its futuristic design of the trailing arms, they are made with so much in mind, during compression, the tires camber inwards, that provides more digging grip during cornering, also the rear tires are slightly angled inwards (toe-in) when you look from the top, that is to k...

Re: Kyosho Raider rebuild
ipenalosa - take a look at this link here, they discuss in detail about the different swing shafts, how long and all. The gold swing shafts I have also fit the Javelin, optima mid etc, just about same size. If you want a good buggy, get a 2014 scorpion or get hold of an optima or javelin, but if you...

Hey TomEG, use carbon fiber for your mono-shock setpup, they look way better and stiffer than aluminum and lighter still.
