Re: RC10GT Rebuilds
Yeah I think something neat could be made to tie it all in there I think at least one hole needs to be drilled for that lower bracket. when i redo mine, im thinking im gonna go for rectangle stock the width of the chassis from the motor plate, cut at the same angle as the left upright of the tub, a...

Re: RC10GT Rebuilds
If you look at my e-gt buggy conversion, the waterfall brace I made ties into the factory motor mount holes in the chassis. I could have left some kind feature for a hook-like battery strap in the waterfall but you know how hindsight goes. I preferred to have the battery on the right side anyway. I...

Re: RC10GT Rebuilds
I think if we would have had more time to mess around with it things would have been done differently. The plan to do this came fairly close to the race and I just hoped that it was going to finished for it. It was supposed to be just a GT restoration. Jason had sent me 4 GT's to restore. This was ...

Re: RC10GT Rebuilds
Yes, the motor plate and mount, and the battery posts are going to be production pieces (he posted a pic of them on FB this morning). He did redesign the battery posts and made them a bit fancier. When i was building the truck I was running out of time to get it done for the VONATS. I had it figure...

Re: RC10GT Rebuilds
absolutely dialed, tub conversions look so slick and light, only question is hows the forward/aft flex? right behind the rear battery post and the lower motor plate chassis mount, my conversion felt like rubber in hand until i tied in the gearbox with a bracket to the left side (looking from the rea...

Re: 2017 Vintage Off-Road Nationals - R/C Excitement, Inc. Fitchburg, MA - September 15-17
i hope this isnt too sensitive of a question, would black tub GT's converted to electric, be considered to run? also wondering if any issues running a modern body like a jconcepts finisher, or a t4 body on my T2

Re: Adding an "idler" gear for reverse rotation?
So my big question is how do you now calculate your final drive with the additional idler, does it affect the pinion/spur/final drive ratio? i worked out mounting a gear in between, but clueless how it affects pinion spur selection or where to read up on basic gear calculation...now that i got my se...

Re: Adding an "idler" gear for reverse rotation?
Cool, so do I have to match the tooth count on the internal idler gear?

Adding an "idler" gear for reverse rotation?
I was wondering if adding an idler to my spur gear, than driving the idler off the pinion changes the overall ratio of the transmission.. I've heard of this being done, but nobody ever got in to the dynamics of the ratio, like does the idler now act like a pinion gear?

Re: Project: LS1 Chevette
be careful, you go down that road, you end up like my close friend who "bought" into magazine hype, spent half his 401k to built a shaffrof (sp) sbc that does 12's.... all the quality parts. all that "bulletproofing" forged this, forged that, ti this, dart that, bla bla bla... al...

Re: Project: LS1 Chevette
Yeah I've seen plenty of there builds. The fairmont was my favorite. While they do some good work with little cash. I'd rather spend the money on new head studs and head gaskets and such when it comes to building an engine. its everything cringe and goes against every silly magazine that has told u...

Re: Project: LS1 Chevette
theres a youtube channel i follow called sloppy mechanics, your chevette totally reminds me of stuff he's into, basically builds hysterically amazing ls turbo "beaters", all about super duper cheap, reusing head bolts, gaskets, rod bolts, he just pushed a stock 300k milled 6.0 bottom end t...

Re: t5m cva bones?
