Re: 2020 Vintage Off-Road Nationals - R/C Excitement, Inc. Fitchburg, MA Oct. 23-25
I'm fairly certain the 4wd Classic class is 1995 or earlier, but no matter...basically anything pre-XX4. Also, for 4wd buggy, you can run a 4wd Classic if you want to (but with a 10.5 for the class). Erich has allowed that. It's just that a lot of those older buggies don't hold a candle to the XX4. ...

Re: Losi Hydradrive Conversion - Team Suzuki
From what i gather the spur gear is attached to the outer casing of the Hydradrive, the unit itself being filled with thick viscous fluid. Various fluid thicknesses can be used to tweak the set up. Within the Hydradrive unit is some sort of impeller which is attached to the shaft. The spur turns un...

Re: Losi Hydradrive Conversion - Team Suzuki
Boy do I wish I had one of these (for a build, not a runner :) ). I would think any type of viscous drive unit (hydra drive or schumacher viscodrive) is better for 2wd than 4wd chassis, since 4wd has a larger traction window. For what it's worth, I did run a hydra drive on my RC10T a few times. It w...

Re: My 2020 VONATs racers
Mark, you need a 2wd buggy and a Classic 4wd buggy! I had setup a XX buggy, but I ended up selling it. Maybe if I find a good deal on a nice RC10B2/B3, I liked those cars. I wouldn't mind building another NIX91. You should get a Pro-X. Maybe I can build you one ;) Actually, I probably have more par...

Something would have to give in the program. The weekend is already quite packed.

NIck, that hasn't happened for several years. This year I think had the least presence of photographers, so I'm not expecting much.

Re: 2019 Vintage Off-Road Nationals - R/C Excitement Inc. Fitchburg, MA Sept. 13-15
Yes, the Super Astute and Ultima re-re would struggle at VONATS as it is presently set up. I had asked about creating a second 2wd class for those kinds of cars, but at the moment there is not enough desire for it. Those cars should be good enough for the existing 2wd class, and a good enough driver...

That track looks pretty sick. Should be some interesting mid-air collisions over that second table top

If you are just looking into Boston, they have a good aquarium and science museum. The area around the MIT and Harvard campuses is also pretty cool. Just be careful driving. Boston drivers are literally the worst. If you're making a road trip out of it, then you'll probably get more kicks out of Cap...

Re: 870c and 91 yz10 differences
You're honestly better off building up an 870c than spending big bucks on a Works '91. As it is, the' 91 is a bit of a collector's item and NIB YZ10s always go for big bucks. Also, the '91 has some unique weak spots (2mm pitch belt, rear hub carriers) which don't translate to the other cars in the s...

Re: 2019 Vintage Off-Road Nationals - R/C Excitement Inc. Fitchburg, MA Sept. 13-15
I had asked Erich if he plans to run the 4wd Classic class on Saturday instead of Sunday (this was shortly after VONATS last year), and he agreed. So hopefully we get that update to the program, because Saturday ended early and Sunday went over time.

Sounds tempting. Generally almost impossible for me to make a race due to parenting duties, but I'll keep an eye on this one. Could be a good chance to help me tune my cars in a bit more for VONATS later in the year.

Re: Top Force racer build
That's a lot of work to put into a nice car and then end up selling it ;) There are a few ways to avoid stripping the spur gear without a slipper. First is to motor down (e.g., 13.5T. I'm sure it would be plenty quick on that layout, which frankly had no really long straights or really big jumps). S...
