Nice body!
I ended up drilling holes in the bottoms of the caster blocks, and tapping them for screws. Now I put screws in those holes to pin the caster blocks to the hinge pins. It got rid of the slop from the aluminum wearing.

Re: A blast from the past..
Probably a good choice to shelf it, though with some work a short arm car can be a fun runner. Getting an old 6 gear with original parts to run well is a lot of work. De-burring the top drives and outdrives is basically mandatory. Did you do that in the 80s? The alternative is getting all re-re tran...

Re: Late C.E. Clean-up
I seem to remember that the Pb10 was supposed to be a carpet racer. Maybe this one will work out better.
Nice project, good luck.
Is anything new with that Team Car I traded you?

Nice. How does it handle?
I was going to ask why you had a nimh, but that's one of the curved-side lipos isn't it?

Re: 6-gear diff lube
For some reason I thought carbide diff balls were black, and assumed that the silver ones were steel. I just looked at some pictures and saw that they're silver.
Sorry.
The diff balls in my 6 gear are black. Thinking back on it those might be ceramic.

Re: 6-gear diff lube
I'm bumping this old thread because I just rebuild the diffs in both of my Rc10s and I accidentally used 6591 in both of them (instead of 6636 in the 6 gear.) My 6 gear diff has 1/8 carbide balls in it vs. the stock, and the PB-10 had steel 3/32 balls (Scr8p, I presume that's what you put in when yo...

Re: PB-10
I put it back together on Friday. I put 32.5 wt shock fluid in the front, 30 wt in the rear, and I put the silver springs back on the front. The diff had felt less than stellar when I first put the car back together, but then I turned the car on, held one wheel still, and gave it some throttle (as o...

The Solar D771 is a great servo for the price. It's fast, strong, and reliable. I've used them in 3 different cars and I have a Solar D770 low profile servo in the Goldpan.

Re: Traxxas Hawk 2- Project Black Hawk
Super late update, I sold this truck in September at the Vonats. I sold it as a roller, no electronics, body or tires, but otherwise complete. I made some laps with it on the track first and it did pretty well. I have a video somewhere. I can't remember the name of the guy I sold it to. He had a bun...

Re: Rc10 short arm/ 6 gear setup and race discussion
What I've found with six gears is you need to build them really well with de-burred gears, either steel or strong plastic idlers, fresh bearings, new e clips, and plenty of grease on the gears (mainly if you have steel idlers). If they're not built well they self destruct constantly. Once you get it...

Re: PB-10
I'm currently dusting this buggy off after it sat the whole winter. It probably needs a transmission/ diff rebuild as I haven't opened it up yet and the diff is starting to get a little gritty. I'm also going to do some work on suspension setup. I've been reading the Rc10 CE setup and race discussio...
