Re: Kyosho Le Mans Motor Info

Hi all, Great thread! Can anyone please help me with a bit of Le Mans tech? I have recently restored my Turbo Scorpion, and have an Optima Pro project on the go now. I want to work out what ratios are suitable for the Le Mans and Spa motors that I have: 240WS 240SB AP36 (same as a 360 Gold) 480WT 36...

Re: 240SB -VS- SPA 480WT

Hi Lars! Thanks for asking this on my behalf mate :) I've just bought an Optima Pro too, and it came with... a Spa 240WS! It looks barely used, and came up nicely after I desoldered it, stripped it down and cleaned it out. It also came with a Kyosho AP36 (which has the same specs as the 360 Gold), s...

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer

Hi Lars, This is great! Thankyou very much for your advice. I did buy the car in '88 and used it to race a mate in the park and backyard for a couple of years, but then it was damaged in a crash and put in a box and forgotten until last year, so I am new to all of this in a way. I certainly wasn't r...

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer

Thanks Lars! I'm taking a slightly different approach with my build. The car is one that I purchased as a kid in 1988, and I am trying to maintain the 'original' appearance of the Turbo Scorpion, and only using genuine original hop ups (i.e. vintage CRP items etc). I am also happy to make modificati...

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer

Now I get to a difficult part for a 26 year old runner/racer, the tires! The Scorpion rims are 1.5” at the rear and 1.9” at the front. To find new tires could cost you a fortune and some time to find. And if you find some tires, they hard as “hockey pucks” (Swedish expression) and no god on the tra...

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer

Hmmmm.... this is very interesting indeed. Prior to putting my Turbo Scorp into storage due to lack of spare parts in Australia I had straightened the chassis rails due to frontal imapct AND smashed up the plastic motor guard. I think I'll need to track down a pair of those chassis braces and a moto...

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer

That sounds exactly like a 1/8" brass tube. The brass tubes that show up on hobby websites are either K&S brand or Albion Alloys and have a 0.014" (0.355mm) wall thickness, which gives an internal diameter of 2.465mm. With a 1.95mm piece of music/piano wire inserted into the tube, that...

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer

Hi Lars,

That's fantastic - thankyou very much! I'll have a crack at it once I've got the car together, but in the meantime that'll help me to get the materials that I need.

Cheers mate!

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer

Hi Hcp22 and everyone! I've been following this one for a little while. I've dug up my 1987 vintage Turbo Scorpion and I'm restoring it at the moment... and adding the odd improvement. I'll create a thread showing the build when I'm further into it. At the moment I'm keen to incorporate a CRP 1703 s...
