Re: Nix T3 runner build

Still waiting for servo and motor.... here she is all buttoned up. Deciding what I want to do about the motor guard... I might cut up the original aluminum chassis piece and mill the transmission like Niki did... or I might just cut the damn thing off and run it with no guard. I suspect I would regr...

Re: Nix T3 runner build

Okay, mechanically, the truck is complete. I have all the right hardware in all of the right places and it's fully together. Found my T3 rear turnbuckles and went through the trouble of putting RPM long ball ends on the whole truck (fingers hurt now). For anyone actually paying attention to the pict...

Re: Nix T3 runner build

The donor for this build was my J82. ( http://www.jconcepts.net/index.php?/jconcepts/press_details/2607 ). Yes, a J82 is intended for a T4... but I made it work on a T3. Anywhoo - long story short, they basically make a bigger buggy out of a stadium truck. To deal with the offset on the rear J82 whe...

Re: Nix T3 runner build

Busy week at work, but I'm almost ready for electronics. I found my CVD's and blue front axles.. and they are in. Dog ate one of my battery straps, so I'm waiting for a new one to show up. Still looking for my T3 rear turnbuckles.. the J82 uses B3's with those funky ball cup ends to clear the offset...

Re: Nix T3 runner build

I'm having a hard time assembling this thing with parts that I know I'm going to simply remove in the next week or so once I find the correct ones. Regardless.. I'm going to try and push through the rest of the assembly today (dog bones and all!!!) and work out the little details later after I do on...

Re: Nix T3 runner build

Bit more done tonight. Lots of making sure stuff simply fits. The donor vehicle was my old J82 runner.. so more than a few of the truck parts were swapped out for buggy parts. Some fasteners will be replaced with the correct stuff as I dig through boxes and find the correct ones. I know I have some ...

Re: Nix T3 runner build

You race locally at all Kyoshojoe?? Didn't get all that much done tonight as the girlfriend needs attention apparently. BTW, I'm using new parts everywhere I possibly can (Thunder Tiger in a few spots - like the front bumper/skid) Chassis with shapeway parts bolted up.... http://www.kerkaw.com/Pictu...

Re: Nix T3 runner build

Okay, got my chassis today from Seabass. Want to thank Niki and Seabass a bunch for working with me on getting this thing cut out. Hopefully get it 95% assembled this weekend. Missing a few little parts and pieces.. but should be there pretty darn quick. Yes, it's going to be a runner - http://www.k...

Nix T3 runner build

Okay, so probably jumping the gun with this thread.. but I feel compelled to post up a pic of some parts due to my overwhelming excitement. I'm sure some of you will recognize a few of these widgets... and then remember I posted this in the truck forum..... http://www.kerkaw.com/Pictures/RC/NixT3_01...

Re: #6002

I built a very nice Worlds car runner with the intentions of racing stock-buggy with it. Unfortunately.. I cringed every time I cartwheeled it and ultimately felt bad about beating the car. THIS changes everything... I'm going to buy 2 :)

Would suspect so - my Trinity D3.5 documentation said to keep it under 165 I think?

Re: Worlds runner almost done -

No fans on mine yet either. I guess I'll have to start doing some research as we don't get 80 degrees round these parts much unless it's winter. I'll keep a temp gun on it this weekend if I manage to get out and keep you guys posted :)

Re: Worlds runner almost done -

I have a new Protech body sitting on the shelf giving me the eye - now.. if I can only figure out how I want to paint it.. ugh.

Anyone make vinyl window masks for these old bodies?

Re: Worlds runner almost done -

Trinity D3.5 17.5 and Novak GTB2X showed up. Asked around on gearing, going to start a bit conservative with a 72/33 setup. Batteries should be here tomorrow - hopefully take it for a test spin this weekend. Still working out a few small issues.. don't like the way the rear end rebounds - just from ...
