Good guess, it's 6mmGroomi wrote:What sort of thickness is that piece Paul (or anyone else)? I'm thinking about 6mm by the looks of it? I've found sheets of black nylon on Ebay of varying thicknesses which I could get and then get busy with the Dremel.

The blue parts are for the Fireblade 2000. Not sure why they are blue, but the FRP is easy enough to strip and re-colour.

Re: Tire re-re - prelude to what? :D
I agree Dan, the only reason this tyre was brought back is due to some drivers using the old stock versions and doing well. Also, the BRCA rules would have stopped drivers using the older tyre as they were no longer commercially available, but since Schumacher still had the mould, the re-re tyre sto...

Re: Back in Time - XLS For Vintage Racing
Quite a list That's going to be a cool CAT.
You could get alloy mounting brackets (T076) BITD, but I can't think of many more period mods you could add. I probably have a few of the other parts you're looking for, even a T079, but only 1...

Re: Dan's ProCat runner/racer project
I have this alloy steering assembly here that I think might have been around when Phil was racing that Procat. I think it's Wasp or MMS but I can't honestly remember. It came from a Procat. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k244/pikergonecarpin/IMG_3990_zps36866507.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: Dan's ProCat runner/racer project
Mmm interesting - that seems like an obvious solution Paul.... but doesn't it reduce the roll bar's effectiveness, being that its cross sectional area has been reduced? It does reduce the roll bars stiffness, yes. Although I don't think in a bad way, that wire is way thicker than the wire I run on ...

Re: Dan's ProCat runner/racer project
With my race Procat BITD I used to file the roll bar wire to half its thickness to avoid belt rub. Here's a pic of the same done on my XL, plenty clearance on the belt now :) http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k244/pikergonecarpin/IMG_3893_zps92365ac8.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k244/pikerg...

Looking good Dan
That shock tower brace is interesting, I have one of those lying around here (somewhere ) I didn't know it was a Phil Davies piece.

Is it just me that thinks GPM parts were made out of cheese. All the bits I had were either bent, or I ended up bending them..

Re: Dedicated room
Now that's a place to spend some time
Even though I have my own dedicated room too, it's a 10ft by 10ft box room that is far too small. I've often though of going into the roof and doing an attic conversion.

Re: Dan's ProCat runner/racer project
I pulled the layshaft out of my works, and mine does not have the shim either Dan. I suppose there is a slight amount of float, but nothing major from my point of view. If anything the running belts should keep the pulley central or you could fit a 1mm M4 washer (I think the layshaft is M4?) to shim...
