Wow, Bearrickster. That is just wrong! I have a local track (paved oval, at that) that is located at a public park. It is serviced by a club. I believe the screws you are refering to are supposed to pass through the tranny housing and bolt to the motor plate. Be careful not to overtighten the srcews so as to not cause the tranny to bind.

One of best things I've done with rc was to give an rtr buggy to a child whom couldn't afford one otherwise. I, like many, have more rc cars than I can play with at one time. Maybe check the diff and clutch setting and then increase the size of the pinion.
