Re: Yokomo Works '91 re-re
Meant to post this weekend, but finally finished the kit. Having built several re-release kits over the past year, it was interesting to compare. Performance, from a very gentle garage shakedown feels pretty good (too cold/wet to take it out yet and I still need paint the body). Some thoughts: -My b...

Re: Yokomo Works '91 re-re
I preordered one from A-main and it arrived right before Christmas - which I was not expecting to see until January. I have been going at it slow as I've been modeling each part in CAD for replacement parts - but you could probably knock it out in 3 hours. The design/kit is very easy (and efficient)...

Re: TRX-1 Build (CAD)
Nice work - I have toyed with the idea myself (a TRX-1 / TRX-3 hybrid). There is a lot of carryover of design principles/dimensions between the two cars which makes parts sharing easier. The downside is that Traxxas also made several unique parts between vehicles (ex.: rear bulkhead), so some parts ...

Re: Scrapheap Junior
Apologies on only coming across this thread recently. Those Pro-SE swept A-arm files are my design. They can probably be found via Yeggi, but they were originally posted to the Thingiverse site here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4348333 Free to use for all - I only ask that you give credit for ...

Re: MR-4BC/MX-4 axle adaptation
You are correct about the cup location - but, there are CVD's which Yokomo branded/made for the MR-4BC which they refer to as "Low Friction" universals. These have the cup on the axle/outboard side. I purchased a set of these off eBay to finish out the rear of an MR4-BC Special - so they d...

Re: MR-4BC/MX-4 axle adaptation
So, it's been a while...but finally got the RS4MT rear MIP CVD axles. This was purchased for another project - but I thought I'd go back and take a look at this again. These are a perfect fit for the rear hub carriers (when 5 X 10 bearings are used in the hub carriers). They are 1 mm thicker, but th...

Bought one myself (as I too am afraid of shredding the spur) - thought ab...

Re: Triumph gearbox belt
A lot of Japanese style vehicles utilize the metric timing belts, but if you can decipher the lettering scheme/numbers, that should lead you to the right belt. Goes through different types of common belts: http://www.newenglandbelting.com/Neoprene_TimingBelts.asp And, a site that sells all kinds of ...

Re: Triumph gearbox belt
If you can determine what "kind" of belt it is - i.e. number of teeth, and pitch style, you may be able to find a replacement looking at those used on current vehicles. For instance if the tooth style is the S3M style, there are several belts available for Mugen, Ofna, Hot Bodies, and HPI ...

Re: MR-4BC/MX-4 axle adaptation
I think it would still work - as the interference is very small (1 mm at the extremes) - as the ball of the CVD is the same; nothing that a little dremeling couldn't relieve. I haven't installed and taken it up to speed yet, as I'm waiting on the rebuild components. I've also found that there was a ...

Re: MR-4BC/MX-4 axle adaptation
Well, I got the parts in and I have good news, and I've got bad news. The bad news is it looks like it won't work for rear axles. I made the incorrect assumption that the 5x10 bearing would have the same thickness as the 6x10 - when in reality, the 6x10 is 3 mm thick and the 5x10 is 4 mm. Blatant ov...

Re: MR-4BC/MX-4 axle adaptation
I actually have both a MR-4BC (std) and recently got a hold of a MR-4BC SP off of eBay (with, surprisingly, quite a selection of tires, rims, parts) – so I’ll take a look at the rims. But at quick glance, as far as I can tell they are specific (use a different adapter than the std MR-4BC) and don’t ...

MR-4BC/MX-4 axle adaptation
Just recently was able to snag a Yokomo MR-4BC and MX-4 off of eBay for very little, and got a couple of questions as it relates to the two - specifically, has anyone tried to use any MR-4BX parts on these - front arms/hubs, rear arms/hubs, or universals/cvd's? A lot of the newer 4WD's (TRF501X, B44...
