Re: Optima is back!!

I don't think the Optima being re-released is going to hurt the market all that much. Especially for hop-ups and nice to new condition stock parts. If you're restoring an original or are a collector, you still want the original parts of course and are willing to pay accordingly. Agree with this 100...

Re: SAVING ANOTHER VIPER

Great dedication here, especially in finding original parts.
The tyres are among my favourite R/C tyres (even if they have to be glued on) - those spikes are probably the longest of any vintage buggy tyre.

Re: Mugen Manx

Very interesting Dan. But are you absolutely certain the Panda Cyclone and Mugen Manx are independently manufactured cars? Or was the Panda Cyclone actually a rebranding/repackaging of the same kit, with some bits different (like decals)? i.e. Panda Cyclone http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h174/dis...

Re: Ayrton Senna & his Tamiyas

Cheers for the comments. Thanks for posting, I suspect a few of the f1 guys enjoy RC. There was a programme here in the UK called Blue Peter, and they had a clip of a very young Lewis Hamilton enjoying racing RC cars as well. did you click on the link in my post, right above yours..... Blue Peter cl...

Re: Kyosho Tomahawk box art decals

One problem in now solved with the re-re Tomahawk is that the re-re has two rear side mirrors. The original only had one in the kit, but two on the box picture. This is true. Did any other Kyosho model use those same mirrors? If no other model used them, Kyosho must have molded the original mirror ...

Re: Kyosho Tomahawk box art decals

Wow, that's dedication! As far as numbering on detail sets, Progress was 204, gallop was 205, and gallop mkII was 207...so it's whatever came right before that series I suppose. That may be a mash up sticker or one from a number set? Thanks gomachv. I've updated the graphic a bit with more findings...

Re: Kyosho Tomahawk Rerelease

Actually on closer inspection, I reckon "203" on the reissue is a bit different, and is a typeface they've used elsewhere before  The reissue lettering is skinnier than that seen on the original box art. So, probably still need to custom-create "203" to really match the ori...

Re: Kyosho Tomahawk Rerelease

I have zero interest in reissues. But the non-Tamiya reissues have been useful for one thing: missing decals. At least in the case of the RC10 and Kyosho Beetle, the reissue kit decal sheets helped provide some decals that were depicted on the box, but never included in the original kit. And that is...

Kyosho Tomahawk box art decals

Hi guys. A few months ago, I remember reading some of the threads about the original RC10, and the impressive efforts some went to in recreating the original box art car. Both in terms of parts and decals. Kyosho were just as notorious as Associated for not including all the decals necessary to repr...

Re: such a long time ago....

it came down to the new stuff not having an interest i no longer connected to it, and i don't connect to the re-release stuff either. if i'm going to honor a car it might as well be the original and not a re-release. Thanks for sharing all those photos Dan, it was great seeing those cabinets. I thi...

Re: New build Tomahawk

the normal kyosho spec MSC for the day had reverse, neutral, forward slow, med, fast. the unit has 2 resistors. The Tomahawk actually got the upgraded MSC, the PCB is the same but the wiring is different and the unit has 3 resistors. you had Brake, Neutral, Forward 1, 2 , 3 and 4, giving you finer ...

Re: new build Tomahawk...offers?

Bit late to this thread... Thanks everyone for the info here, really interesting. So what do you do with your Tomahawk? Keep it! Sadly the high end buyers are growing fewer and fewer now with reproduction lexan bodysets available and the rere Scorpion so those who want to experience these old gems c...
