Re: YA Reedy Modified (Edinger) Question Thread
... That’s a bit weird: the 17x3 just had a number seven on it so it took some macro lens time to suss the winds. One 16 double is simply labeled as “16” on its arm, and the other 16d is old school winds-turns nomenclature so it reads ”26” on the armature stack. This was of course long before anybo...

Re: YA Reedy Modified (Edinger) Question Thread
Well OK boys and girls, we have some curious results here. TL;DR version is that two of the teal Reedy Mods with red dots are 16x2, while the third, missing its dot is a 17x3. I think that this was either a sponsored driver who used motors once and then swapped out, or someone who drove extremely se...

Re: Making a vintage parts brushed frankenmotor
That’s a sweet little frankencan. Respectable top end there would make just about any decent tenth scale go certifiably quick as well. Hey do those Epic Al heatsink end bells utilize oval brushes? Never seen one in meatspace. Nice work

Re: my Trinity motor collection
That’s a nice stash! Some of my very favorite vintage cans there. If it helps to know, the orange billet aluminum MH was likely the “Dirt Oval” flavor of the Monster Horsepowers made by Kyosho. They were seen as both 15x2s and 14x2s, so opening yours up for a peek might be interesting if the stacks ...

Re: YA Reedy Modified (Edinger) Question Thread
There is definitely the possibility of them being good runners (paying attention to motor temp and run time limits). Being in that nice condition, I would be hopeful that was an indication they were taken care of and had little use. For early modifieds, I don't get the impression that they were bui...

Re: YA Reedy Modified (Edinger) Question Thread
Trying to identify motor specs can be frustrating. So many have no markings. I've had a few of those teal green label motors and none were marked with anything useful. Maybe the red dots are correct on yours and they are 17 double motors. If they are double wire at the comm terminations, that would...

YA Reedy Modified (Edinger) Question Thread
Hey all, I’ve got some motors on the way and they’re the green or teal label (faded green?) pre-Ultra, chonky Yokomo endbell variants with the Edinger address and in seemingly red dot flavor. I didn’t waste any time asking questions when I found the ad since I knew that they’d be nice to have in the...

Re: LiPo Battery for my Optima Mid Re Re?
I use a shorty 2s lipo in my stock and custom optima mid rere's. It fits just fine with the stock velcro straps and on the custom chassis conversions it can be placed in the original position or inline and off center. Lastly, shorty lipos will work in many other modern rc cars now should you decide...

Re: Howdy From Hawai’i Island!
Excellent intro Xoid. Indeed, please post that motor collection. It's kind of an unofficial requirement from us other motor collectors on here  Hey thanks everybody. I’ve seen some incredible stashes of good cans on this forum but will get around to adding a pic or two over in the vintage ...

Howdy From Hawai’i Island!
Hey all, it’s a pleasure to finally stop lurking this site and to join up for some fun RC car discussion. I’m a long-time RC enthusiast, originally poisoned by a Tamiya Grasshopper back in oh, 1984 I think it was and have had the disease ever since despite taking some hiatuses as needed. I love old ...
