Is the build parts complete? Is there anything else needed?

Re: The cheapest tub pan on eBay

I got the greased lightning and it is highly reactive with bare aluminum. That is weird. Maybe Grease Lightning works differently in your house than it does in mine. Any pictures of the damage that it caused? What happened that was "highly reactive?" Thanks to your tip I finally have enou...

Re: The cheapest tub pan on eBay

Anything chemical that strips anodizing is for sure also dissolving bare metal so use caution. The black you see on the parts is called smut and it's from particular metals associated with the alloy you are working with. It need to be cleaned up with a desmut chemical or mechanical means. I've used...

I gotta say that I highly respect Tamiya for keeping kits and parts available.

Re: The cheapest tub pan on eBay

That is the stuff. I didn't see a price on the HD page, but it is $2 at WM: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Greased-Lightning-Super-Strength-Multi-Purpose-Cleaner-and-Degreaser-32-Fluid-Ounce/15724133 My local Lowes has it in gallons @ $10, so it is actually cheaper in the bottles at WM, and when done, ...

Re: New guy, lots of questions.

Thanks for the add, I have recently acquired a few RC10's and am deciding how to proceed, as to restoration or not or upgrading electronics and just having fun. One of my recent acquisitions is a very original but in mostly poor shape A stamp car. I will be looking for help as to how much of what I...

Re: Paint stripping

Hey guys (and gals) Any tips on removing paint from the white nylon plastic used on the RC10. I am getting one someone has painted all the suspension and wheels. It looks like a nightmare but going to give it a shot. Thanks in advance. Nylon is a pretty strong plastic. I have found that at least wi...

Re: The cheapest tub pan on eBay

Greased Lightning from WM takes anodizing off in a few of hours. $1.98 for 32 ounces. I have stripped down three AE aluminum chassis with it with no issue. How is it on the bare aluminum? I have been worried about pitting the aluminum easy off seems to be more active on the bare metal this it is on...

Re: The cheapest tub pan on eBay

Try Whink Rust Stain Remover for stripping the ano, you can get it at Walmart. I’ve used it to strip paintball marker parts in minutes. Not sure how well it will work on the hard anodizing Associated used, but worth a shot. The older AE pieces, gold and black pan, are non-hard anodized. Only the new...

Re: rc10sc5m vs rc10t5m

While stadium trucks are more nostalgic, I prefer the short course for bashing around. The big body definitely absorbs potential damage to the running gear and the tires/arms do not stick out to get caught on anything. I have a first model SC10 and enjoy ripping around the street/yard. Here are the...

Re: The cheapest tub pan on eBay

So the paint I used never cured so I took this bad boy is going for anodizing. Normally it's like 3 figures to anodize, I found someone willing to do it for 2 figures. The catch is I have to do all the stripping and prep of metal. Only after an extensive amount of work do I realize how bad of an ide...
