Best antenna/holder

Post by floodx »

Every time I run I break the antenna tube - part of the problem is that it has turned cold outside and the plastic has became more brittle.

Question is what is the best brand/type antenna holder/tube to at least make this a more infrequent occurrence. Most of the antennas products I see advertised are similar to mine. I figure if the tube was just made out of a different more rubbery material it would fix it but most manufacturers don't advertise what material the tubes are made of and my local store only carries the harder (cheaper) types unless it comes with a kit...

Any ideas or product suggestions for a winterized antenna tube?

don't know about the site but thats what I get when I search the part number. Got a pack of them from my LHS and they don't break. They aren't hard/brittle at all. They don't have enuf stiffness in themselves to hold themselves up all the way but they do work good without breakage.

I run traxxas brand in all of mine.My lhs carries them for $1.00 a piece seperately sealed.I have had no issues with the kids trucks. Most of mine have been converted to 2.4 but the kids still run a.m. and they crash alot.lol

Try angling the antenna so it leans backwards about 45 degrees. This is easy to do in a truck, doing out the rear window area, but you should be able to accomplish the same thing with a buggy. You can either gently bend the antenna, or rotate the mount so the antenna stays straight.

Thanks for the input I think I will try the Trinity or Traxxas antenna tube next (I destroyed the left ASC6207 and have to order a batch of parts anyway - I guess 20 year old parts become brittle in cold weather too) - the antenna tube does have a natural curve to it not sure if it is 45 deg - in the mean time I reinforced the joint into the mount (looks kinda hooptee since I made it from oversized tubing I just had laying around and scavenged a losi axle for the mount portion - I will have to post a pic) and it seems to be working - though haven't tried in cold weather yet.
