Hello From NorCal
Hello and thanks for the add. I've been farting around with RC's since the early 90's with my first dive into the hobby with the Tamiya Bear Hawk. I later would graduate to a Losi Jr T, and eventually picked up an Ofna Nitro Truggy and Bolink Sport Pan car. I have alway had RC's to play around with ...

Re: Hello From NorCal
Thanks for the welcome.
The body for the wood soapbox was made from Douglas fir. Bought 2x4’s and ripped them into 3/16” strips then routed the edges with a “canoe joint” so the would interlock.

I’ve spent about 5 years restoring it. I started by stripping it down to bare metal. I did all the body work, painting, and fin...

Tamiya Bear Hawk; Found My First RC Car
My First RC car was a Tamiya Bear Hawk. I didn't know what I was doing when I built it up but the instructions were good enough to get it running. Over the years I Frankensteined that car trying to get more from it than was ever intended for. I don't remember, but it may still be sitting in a junk b...

Re: ** Build of the Month Contest - October 2023 ** - Winner - scr8p
First time submission. This is my vintage TMNT party wagon that was converted to RC with a custom designed/fabricated Tamiya TT-02 chassis. The TT-02 chassis seemed like a good fit but it had to be shortened by 4”. I was able to squeeze everything onto the shortened chassis but had to move the steer...

1/5 RC10 - RC5 Team Build
This is my first project posting on this forum. If this is the wrong section, please move it to the correct section. I enjoy doing custom builds dsigning and fabricating custom parts. I have a decent amount of capabilities within my shop including CNC machining, manual machining, 3D printing. I also...

Re: 1/5 RC10 - RC5 Team Build
I'm coming in hot and heavy on this. That usually happens in the beginning when things are new and exciting then things taper off. I managed to rough out the chassis model so that I could start mocking up the layout. I was a little nervous about having to bend the nose piece up. More so than the oth...

Re: 1/5 RC10 - RC5 Team Build
First test print of the front tire. This is probably a usable tire but the back side is pretty ugly. I want to mess around with the settings and also look at softer compounds. I have a rear tire on the printer now. Even though we are only doubling the dimensions to go from 1/10 to 1/5, volumetricall...

Re: 1/5 RC10 - RC5 Team Build
I've tried to print tires, using TPU and rubber resin (see my own threads in Marui area), and rear face is always a problem. That said, with TPU you may have a way to sort it out by printing your tire in halves and gluing them using flex seal : you have to think about the way to line up the faces t...

Re: 1/5 RC10 - RC5 Team Build
Made some more progress on the design in the last couple of days. My goal is to try to model 3 parts a day which has my finishing in about two weeks. I've got the front and rear bulkheads and shock towers as well as the rear hub/axle assembly. Chassis Moc-Up 2.jpeg Chassis Moc-Up 3.jpeg I also got a...

Re: 1/5 RC10 - RC5 Team Build
A lot has happened on this build in the six months since my last post. I have a running prototype with aluminum chassis. IMG_1671.jpeg IMG_1674.jpeg IMG_1672.jpeg IMG_1673.jpeg I have started printing parts in proper colors. I also started working on a proper body. My design is kind of a mish mash o...
