Step 4 front end time.

The plan is to fit a set of bosscat front arms….. sounds easy yeh right. The bosscat arms are longer which means some mod work is required.

First off I’ve left off the upper and lower arm spacers off and have dremeled the upright to take the bosscat lower arm directly

The upright on the right is the stock and the left is the modded.

Here they are with the front arms and carriers fitted

What is the performance advantage with the Bosscat arms? I assume there was an advantage or Schumacher would not have tooled up to make the new ones. Comparing my BC and XLS, I can see Bosscat arms are longer and smooth on the bottom with no provision for an anti-roll bar. With stock arms on both the track is similar, so the XLS with BC arms will have a wider track than either kit.

If it is bad form to drag down your build thread with questions, please say so. :D I can always go bug the folks on the Vintage Schumacher FB group for my free RC education.

No worries colt I don’t mind at all,

Yes the bosscat arm would make the track wider if you used the spacers for the lower arms but by modding the uprights as shown above the bosscat arms are mounted closer to the gearbox- centre line of the chassis.

I have found that by using the longer ctr and the bosscat lower arms it almost completely removes the massive amounts bump steer that the early cats had.

Stage 4 rear suspension

I’m using a full works rear arm conversion on this as well as bosscat carbon shock tower, camber link and bosscat rear transmission spacer-tower mount

Sorry been a bit slack posting up on this😬

Time for the top front arms

I looked at using the bosscat top arms, but the geometry was totally different so I’ve gone for the old school mod to get front camber adjustment.

Take 2 original top arms, 2 rear gearbox spacers, 2 x 24mm turnbuckles and 2 ball cups, add a dremel and a 2.5 mm drill bit. And you go from this

I’ve gone for a set of vari shocks on this managed to pick up a few sets of the pro shock bodies a few years ago and a set of donor plastic vari shocks direct from Schumacher before they were discontinued.

Very clever mixing and matching of parts, and the front upper arms shows the true racer's spirit from bitd!

I am thinking of using Top Cat front upper arms on my XLS runner. They are a nice "middle ground" between the standard arms and the Bosscat camber adjustable arms, plus they look the business. I got the idea from the 91 World's Pro Cat/Bosscat prototype thread.

That turned out really well! What do you have in mind for a paint scheme? Or should we just wait for the big reveal?!? :D

Love the conversion to the top front wishbones, -excellent, I might try that as I have one side that's chopped out the ball housing totally.
(That outer ball fitting- Not Schumacher's best moment eh?)
