RUBRIX Racing carries a lot of FAN RC’s products for those that don’t use Facebook like me https://www.rubrixracing.com/
Sorry if I’m derailing the thread, Anyone else having issues with this website, it’s stopped working for me?
Hello All,

Just a quick update, I heard back from Ruben and it turns out there was an issue with the site provider and he is currently switching over to a new vendor.

New website - www.RUBRIXRC.com
Business email - [email protected]

Please note, he is still in the process of moving over some of the content so not all the inventory is there but should be up soon (mentioned about 7-10 days at the most).

Hope that helps,
J.

Thank you Alex B, that is a great point on what they are more likely for and don't know why I didnt catch that given their length, definitely going to try out your suggestion.

I also seem to recall years ago using Kyosho Optima king pins in my 870? I will look up their part number and availability and post an update in case others stumble across this thread in the future (including myself as I have a squirrel brain...oh what is that? lol)

UPDATE - I believe they are the OT-4 King Pins from Kyosho

Have a bunch of parts ordered and on their way, just waiting for some packages. Hope to have an update on this project soon.

This is more of a reference note for myself but I am getting ready to start assembling the steering components and believe the ZC-201 flange bearings are 3 x 6mm and will fit in the ZD-213 steering rack but trial and error, have some on the way and will delete/update this once I receive and attempt to jam them in

MF63ZZ Flange Bearing 3x6x2.5 mm is what I jammed in there.

Well RUBRIX came through and sent me a package allowing me to take another step forward. The rear 3d printed diff cap/cover was getting dirty from laying around and Fan RC is making some great repo injection molded (? Is that what is is called?) replacements so it allowed me to do some minor updates to the backend.

Also received the correct kingpins and not only do they look better and closer to the original car but they actually fit correctly too lol

Finally also via RUBRIX and and Fan RC I picked up the correct black coloured battery posts, again a little better than the white 3d printed versions I started with BUT I did notice a small issue with them….no holes! Guess I’ll be doing some drilling later.

Drilling holes in those battery posts is a nightmare, maybe it was my bits but in the end I heated up a 2mm bit on the gas stove and used that to make a pilot hole which I then drilled out with a pin vice.

More of a night of test fitting things but made some progress nonetheless, front and rear turnbuckle setups complete, top deck partially mounted, front diff upper assembly mounted (had to drill them out a bit using a 1/8 drill bit for the upper arm assemblies that the hinge pins would slot into (these are the 3d print bits and has been a constant in terms of needing a bit of ‘massaging’)).

Quick questions for the viewers ;)

- anyone know what belts actually fit the 93wcs? I assume 94-97 but wanted to check (I have ordered the wrong ones previously)

- any idea size are the front and rear hub bearing sizes? I only need 8 and wanted to avoid buying a full bearing kit

- going to going with ZC-422 rear drive shafts and ZC-423 fronts, if anyone thinks I have these wrong please let me know lol I know RUBRIX has the 422’s but I think the fronts I will have to go to JC Racing, although they are a little costly and wanted to see if anyone had another source for 423’s?

(I am doing research tonight and will update with answers for future reference but wanted to see if anyone knew offhand)

Bearings are 11x5

I'm not sure about the belts as mine has the 2mm pitch but I would think the m3 is the same as the later YZ-10 part number ZD 652

Wonderful thank you Alex B, just ordered some bearings and hit JC Racing and ordered the necessary drive shafts. A little pricey but beats purchasing OEM off the bay.

With the new rear diff housing it became apparent that I no longer needed the spacers that I built to raise the height of the rear shock tower so it would clear the rear diff cap…..hopefully that made some sort of sense, pictures explain better….

Re rear bulkhead:

I had the same issue when I put together my WCS. I had originally used a modified works aluminium bulkhead which I had chopped down - it sits about 3mm higher than the correct part which I understand was milled down by Yokomo because of that very issue. I managed to pick up the correct magnesium part from ebay a little while later for, at the time, a bargain... which solved my issue.

Where did you get that bulkhead from?

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000160246740.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.order_detail_item.17.538af19cUazoNq

If you want titanium pan head phillips screws for your build I got them from the AliExpress seller above - the original uses JIS with the little dot but these are a very close match in colour. The price is also very reasonable. They also have countersunk and imperial sizes.

Hey thank you for the link, good excuse to try out AliExpress for the first time :)

Ah yes, one of the nicest machined pieces I have ever purchased, our friends in Thailand (RC Plus /thai-town). Here is a link to it on the bay but I think they are also active on Facebook and it might be cheaper there:

Finally got a package from JC Racing and as expected the quality of the cvd’s are excellent. Bearings are just generic ones, not like this thing will ever see the track (I have another project for that partially on the go lol)

In full transparency the front steering knuckles from VRS, the bearings fit perfectly but the rear uprights were a bit more of a tight fit, required some ‘persuasion’ using a blunt object lol
