Now that I have enough balls to tackle this I thought I'd start putting it together.

It has gone together quite well so far and has been fun, the sotted screws really add to the experience  The diff feels great considering it is a strange design, and the diff adjustment is a PITA though so hopefully it doesn't need an adjustment

The chassis squared up nicely and the motor guard fits the beltbox as it should.

Thanks.

Getting closer, put the front end together and the wheels to see how well the body fit.

I just need to find some 10wt oil so I can put the shocks together and make a new front body mount. I also need some more screws  lol

Who makes a nice factory looking shorty pack holder? I rather not drill any new holes if I don’t have to.

My favorite so far is the lipo holder from the Cat XLS but that means drilling holes..... Is drilling new holes a bad thing?

Edit: Too late, I already ordered the Cat fiberglass lipo holder   I can make a lipo mounting plate that bolts in the stock battery location.

I think Muzzoom make one..... but if it's too late, then it's too late.

Of course, drilling holes in the chassis is very vintage.....

Looking very nice, mate......

I looked at Muzzooms and it was either just a generic holder or a saddle holder.. The fiberglass Schumacher one will tie into the truck nicer.

Funny thing is my wife said "what are you building?"

I said "a stadium truck"

She said "are you building it for someone else or yourself"

I said "me"

She said "it looks weird, it's not like your usual thing"

Maybe you can paint the body pink, and she will be more comfortable......

Those that race or are familiar with these is the factory set up of the vari-shock with 10w oil pretty spot on or too light?

I finally got some 10wt oil and it was well........ useless  it could have worked in the rear but would never have worked in the front.

And after a long and extensive shock screwing around session I've finally got it in the ball park, not perfect yet but I'll wait and make the final adjustments when there is full weight in the car. I also need to install some 3-4mm limiters in the front shocks. I ended up changing shock shafts 3 times, tried 4 different wt oils and about 3+ different vari-shock piston settings with each wt oil.

I'm tipping the final set up to be

Front
30wt oil
1 hole
4mm limiter
Stock spring

Rear
25wt oil
3 hole
No limiter
Stock spring

I tried 35 wt in the front with 2 holes but it felt too springy when I initially set it up, however I will try it once more to compare to 30wt and 1 hole before making my final decision.

And of course I forgot to buy a servo saver today

Looking really good and an inspiration as I'm getting started on mine, I mean, my own from bitd! Has this reached completion in the end?

Hey Paul,
Thanks for the kind words.

I haven’t done much since my last post. This started off as a quick pocket change build but nearing the end it started to add up a bit, and being that I didn't have anything in the way of parts I found an RC10T2 for which I had plenty of support for. Overall the T2 ended up cheaper.

I still don't have a shorty lipo so I haven't been able to make the battery plate. Also, I was never happy with any of the Schumacher body mounting options so I looked into ways I could improve it. The stock dump truck bumper pushes the body too far forward for my liking, looks too bulky and is quite flexible. Mounting the body post behind the front wheel arches tends to allow the body to crack at the wheel arches and the single pin on the fiberglass storm tower..... well.... who thought that was a good idea?

This was my favorite idea that I could find, as far as I can tell it is home made but looks pretty factory. I haven't attempted to make a piece yet.

My friend painted the body which came out pretty good I think, which is definitely out of my league. It's quite dusty but you still get the idea

Thanks for sharing the update - yes, that body is too pretty to mount it on the standard, not so functional mounting system indeed!!!

Looking forward to your final solution if any as I am rebuilding a shelfer (with a masterly-painted body... that someone else did for me too!) and a runner, so for that last one I will likely get more inspiration from you :)

All the best,
Paul
