YZ-10 for dummies? - 93' WCS

DerbyDan - Thanks, I've been slowly going through your thread trying to make sense of these cars and figuring out what people are doing. I've always wanted a YZ-10 and would have been happy with any version, and out of nowhere a 93 WCS falls out of the sky.

It's almost like whoever built this car did a killer job, especially if the arms were drilled, rear bulkhead machined, rear roll center plate mod etc. Then it's like it was either forgotten about and or given/handed to a kid after to race. Why would you nicely mill a bulkhead only to poke a transponder hole in the wing with a soldering iorn? The shocks still feel amazing considering they probably haven't been touched in 10 years!

I too would like a new/good used rear bulkhead cap but the unmodified one should clean up well for now. I'll have to make a jig but here's another mod, perfectly done on both sides. Arms were well done too.

Huh.... I just noticed another mod looking at kenooz's car, the motor plate has been milled a bit too...

Some more bits, proper c-hubs and some expensive balls. What part number are the steering knuckles?

A few more oddities... More mill work and what seems like a belt tensioner post, possibly to run a longer belt to go along with the rear chassis mod?

Wow.. you are going all out! I love it.. yea yokomo parts are pricey but in the end, you come out with a great rc.. can't wait to see the build.. looks like it will be nice when you finish..

I wouldn't say all out but just trying to restore the car as it should be while preserving the race mods. I had no idea this car was tweaked as much as it is, with many thanks to the knowledgable Yokomo guys. As far as parts go that's about it for selection in my honey hole, so I'll have to beg, trade and buy the remaining parts which will be slow and time consuming. Surely there are a few other parts in the box but I don't know part numbers that I neec. Luckily I have all of the parts to build this car so it will just be a case of swapping things out as I find them.

Here is the chassis I sold a friend which looks like a Pavidis chassis. This would have been the real thing and not a copy. Not a scratch on it..... yet at least.

Hopefully he doesn't destroy it.

That Chassis unfortunately wont work on the 93WCS - this unique car literally represented the cross over between the Works cars (which were developments of the original Superdog fighter - 870C) & the later 94' & Pavidis YZ-10s, with the rear bulkhead/motormount style of the Works cars but the front plastic bulkheads & kick-up chassis of the later cars. Because of this the 93WCS uses a unique length main belt.

The Pavidis car also uses the standard pitch belt too? I was sort of happy when I saw it as it's not one I need, but also a bit saddened that it was an (I assume) rare chassis. I'm happy with the way mine cleaned up and glad it's staying with the car.

I just hope my friend doesn't ruin it, unless it's not rare. I would of rather hung onto it and let it go to someone here who would look after it.

It's rare in the sense it's a 20yr old chassis, but no where near as rare as the 93' WCS chassis.

My bet is he's going to run it (I see a older BL installed )

They are rare - but not THAT rare.... this is another chassis that Fibrelyte have on file & can re-produce on my mould, so new ones are always available at a cost.

To be honest these chassis are normally kept in good condition through the fact that an undertray is used... if you friend does the same it should be protected from major scuffs/scratches.

A bit more work with an unusual teflon belt guide. I forgot about it in the bag untill I started cleaning the nylon.

I unglued the wheels/tires and cleaned them, they came out great. I also found enough new large white rod ends in an extra baggie for the car. I also found 3 new smaller rod ends but need at least 1 more. I also found a new set of rear universals and cleaned up the front bulkhead and associated plastic.

I'll take better photos when I start assembling the car.

I've hit a bit of a stalemate with the car. I'm not in a financial position to buy the correct WCS parts that I need and have given up looking for the time being. I did get a new body and could just assemble it with lunsford turnbuckles, or see if I can get the sizes I need in the early style.

I really like this car and want to do it justice while preserving its history. I wish someone would recognize the car and tell me/us a bit of history about it, it's a pretty indentifiable car so it would be easy to recognize.

I forgot to mention I bought a set of white battery posts a while back. Just really need turnbuckles, front drive shafts, top deck, black FRP battery straps, glass steering brace and wing and wing mounts.
