PB Mini mustang with tricks

I bought a well used Mini Mustang january this Year. The guy I bought it from has had it from new, and been club racing it for 4 seasons at a local Danish club.

It was in a bit of a rough shape when I got. The chassis was divided at the rear and had a lot of weird hacksaw cuts, unsalvagable. I only had blue fibreglass, so the new chassis is pretty much blue.

The chassis rails (backbone) was beat and had superglue and many extra holes - Luckily Alex (Incredible Serious) came to my rescue, letting me have a set of backbones in good condition - Thanks Alex.

The bumper, besides absorbing impacts, holds the front suspension in place. The ones delivered with the buggy had seen to much absorbing, so they would only serve as keeper of the suspension.
New one is fabricated in 3mm kydex with milled clearance for the diff.

There were to sets of drivelines with the buggy, fine and coarse tooth. I installed the fine toothed.

It came with Schumacher shocks front and rear, cleaned with a brass brush and will be polished later

Have yet to decide if it´s going to be saddle or stick. The stick arrangement for this buggy, is a bit mal engineered in my opinion

Got a little more done today -
Polished the shocks and replaced the pistons, which was just a LITTLE bit bend.
Mounted some new front suspension struts, which I took from an ENA 3D buggy - the mounting holes chassis wise, are a direct fit. Wild Willy delivered the main parts for the crossmember.

The old upper front shock mounts consisted of cutdown original rear mounts combined with a CAT XLS rear shock mount - an odd sight.

Nothing beats fresh rubber and rims - I believe the rims are shared with the TAG Geronimo and the SG Coyote, but who made them?

This is looking good! I have a Maxima on the wait, but I have to finish first my Hot Trick Red Fox build for the Nordic Vintage Challenge... Maybe you should bring your Mini Mustang over to Eskilstuna in February? The swedes are all mainly driving Kyosho so bring your brit!

I would like to go - the minister of arms has agreed to accompany me (she wouldn´t let me leave without her) so now the only obstacle is making it fit jobwise.
If I go, it´s going to be with an Ultima under the arm and perhaps a Scopion for the classic 2wd.

Oh well, then maybe we will meet up! Ultima and Scorpion sounds nice as well. My Fox is in the museum display I made here in Norway - there is a picture of it in the thread (http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=27601). Since it is still stuck in the display I will have to make a new one for the meeting. Even though I have the parts I know it will be big enough an effort to get it ready to roll.. So no pictures of the car I'm going to drive yet.

have never seen them on anything but a PB & in PB packaging...?
Their plastic resin looks same as the red bits of a PB Alpha.

From vague memory rear/wide wheels wouldn't work on the front without fouling at full lock.
Maybe you've got thicker triangle hubs to alleviate clearance issues.

Love what you've done with it! The blue chassis looks great, and is just what I could use to build my Mini Mustang MG Metro 6R4!!! I also love the front bumper, as that's one of the rare items these days.

The wheels look to be stock PB wheels, so I've never heard them to be included with other cars....

How can You have parts enough to build another Hot Trick Fox I thought they were rare?
Was it You, I bought the belt converted Optima with the JG truck conversion from? - The one in the exhibit.

nah Al just loves then Frewer 6R4s

Mini Mustang only ever shipped with the Stiletto shell in all 2WD, 4WD & 4WD2-speed kits.
Mini Mustang Eco and Maxima got their own unique shells later.

My Mini Mustang back in the day had a MG Metro body.... PB were too early for the factory rallycross revolution. Need to finish this one (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=65316&sid=154), haven't done anything to it in four years!!!!

Like I've said before, battery cradle was a great idea if (a) you only used NiCad stick packs (or maybe NiMH if you're lucky).... and (b) you used it only as a way to hold the battery in place. With a few mounting units, mounted to batteries with a Deans or other connewction, they setup itself was great for quick-changes.....

then again truth be told, back when they were new the motor was only sipping 1200mAh over 6mins

I even had a cradle wired to a tamiya plug, just clamp it to any stick pack.
Wasn't any noticeable difference vs going direct.

Unfortunately I think the end cap of a Tamiya black racing pack was too fat
to fit thru the backbone aperture so we never used Tamiya packs in PB.
Fuji Novel were the pick of the day as they fitted thru ok.
