Here is a scan from the manual showing the viper arm and wiring

Wait, my bad LOL!
That resistor doesnt have a reverse. If your wiper is wired per the diagram, then check the motor.
Thats resistor only has forward and brake. So if it is going in reverse, it might be the motor wiring is backwards.

very nice car that started life as a very early model. Most of the difficult and hard to find pieces are there. Especially the goodyear tires. the hardest part you will have to find would be the fiberglass battery braces. The other parts to make it period correct are somewhat easy to find, they include:
old style steering bellcrank system
as mentioned, short front arms
threaded rod control links

the servo control link should be bent wire with setscrew collars as well. Most of this stuff is probably in peoples' stash of spare and used parts, so you should be able to get them easily.

it's up to you, but you have a very well preserved example of an early car which would be more valuable restored to it's original vintage.

check out the manual to see how it originally went together.

you lucked out pretty nicely I would say!!!

[quote][the rear bulkheads were the same all the way up to the C.E. that came out in 88-89./quote]

step away from the vehicle.....slowly - and put down the tools :!:

clean that thing up and put it back to stock 1984 RC10 and stop worrying about your speed control

go on ebay and buy a gold pan to bash and race with your friends.

my 2 cents

Ok, I was a little off on my year but I have a new built un-run short arm car with short wing tube bulkhead. Parts catalog dated September 1988.

well, i know i've never seen a short arm car, that i know was built right from the kit and not just pieced together, with a short wing tube bulkhead.

the rc10 that i used for my halsey replica was completely original from the kit. when i got it, the receipt from purchase was still in the box, which was Nov. '88. it has the long tube bulkhead.

Don't worry, I think I got that point across to him during a conversation we had a couple days ago. :!:

all uguys r helpin me out very much and each of ur post i appreciate... about the speed control the car goes forward when i pull the trigg reverse...but im not worried bout it anymore im jus happy to see it move again and when i get to show pops im sure he will be too... i talked to him earlier and ask about a few details abut what everones said and he insisted that is was all original...the arms are stock i guess the hobby shop in whittier ca sold em that way when he had bought his...but he insisted that the parts on it were never replaced...he did say the motor and that purple gear were changed out later but that everythng else came that way...i kno all the people on here really know there stuff so i beilieve all the lil details u guys speak of but i have to believe my dad also when he says he never broke or changed out anything... im gunna look at all the manuels and parts catalog n stuff n see what it says...i do remember when i was rebuilding it i had to reffer sometimes to the pic diagrams to see how thing went so maybe i can figure out excatly what needs to be changed...u guys have helped tremendously and its much appreciated...i never intended to sell the car i jus wantd to get her to run again and to show my dad that she still ran...after i got it to run but only when i pull reverse i got an itch to make it into a more modern car....but after fiding this site and askin a few dumb questions ive learned its much more than a lil rc car...it really was more about gettn it to run and shown pops but now its about restoring to neam exact and w all ur guys help im sure i can do jus that...now i gotta rean the manuels and look at the pic diagrams and see excatly what it is u guys are reffering to thnak u all and i will be talkn to ya later have a great day everone...thanks

Sorry, those long arms did not exist in 1984 :?
Believe what you read on this site and spend some time on slotcarrod's thread on the 25 years of RC10 - he has your exact car in pristine original un-molested condition. Great car, do it justice

and you should be able to reverse the servo on the transmitter.
