Is Vaterra gone for good?

When it's R/C related, but doesn't fit anyplace else.

I’ve been meaning to post an update for the Vaterra Brat build….

It’s finished except for some side skirts to hide the chassis since it protrudes from beneath the body. The skirts will attach to the the body’s rocker panels extending down probably 10 - 15mm, angle inward and be painted flat black.
Anyway, I’ve made the new chassis as narrow as possible to better fit under the body. The battery and servo are stood up to keep everything skinny and compact.
Since the chassis is completely open, I’ve added large slots to allow dirt and other yard debris to pass through (that’s mainly pine needles where I live). The Rx and ESC are mounted directly to the steering servo to minimize components being mounted to the chassis and trapping debris. I reckon the chassis should be mostly self-cleaning.

The wheel and tire package came from a well-used Turbo Optima I got from ebay a few years ago. The wheels are prominently marked “Simons Wheels”. I have no idea who Simon is but his wheels look very much like those from an Optima Mid. Anyway, for now I’ve kept those funky tires mounted hoping they might eventually grow on me – so far they have not. I really like the wheels since the color and style seem appropriate for a Brat but I’ll start looking for new tires.
The tires have “NB” molded into the tread – perhaps they are from a New Bright toy?? Anyway, I think they give the truck an agricultural look. It doesn’t know if it’s a truck or a tractor.
