Dynamite TNT .12 Overhaul

Post by RC10th »

I never had one on these as I was an OS guy but they look like a great little engine.

This one came in a bulk lot of stuff and while fairly clean could still use some help.

Engine all stripped down, the sleeve was pretty stuck and I had to use a heat gun to get it out. The insides looked OK with a bit of corrosion, the rear bearing wasn't turning with the crank which was a little concerning.

Carb all pulled down, nothing looked too bad here, just dirty

Since someone decided to pull the pullstart off and lose it I just so happened to stumble across one of these kits.

I'm surprised it came with a new crank, OS just told you to grind the starter pin off the crank. The new crank is standard length so you'd still have to cut it down.

I'm a bit surprised the kit didn't include a new back plate gasket which is the most fragile thing in the whole engine. Mine was stuffed anyways so I had to dig out an OS gasket set. Luckily they are pretty much the same.

I chose to grind the starting pin and save the crank just in case.

The ABC sleeve is nice, no wonder they were so popular, probably a better engine than the CZ/CV.

The bearings also cleaned up surprisingly well with a bit of love. I tried something a bit different and used cutting oil to work the bearing followed by a solvent bath. This seemed to work better than just the solvent bath alone.

And to spare assembly photos...... came out pretty good I think..
