Magnetic DC Power Coupler - Quick Connect for LED's

Post by GreenBar0n »

Recently built a Tamiya VW Bus model, and wanted to go all magnetic body posts to keep a scale look. Also added the Tamiya TLU-1 LED kit, and found it was a hassle to constantly plug and unplug the ElecHawk light switch module in to the 3rd channel on the receiver every time the body needed to be removed.

Found a smart phone charger style magnetic coupler, and used it for this project. The pin in the middle is isolated positive, the two outer pins are negative/ground.

Having it automatically connect makes it so much easier.

Olight uses those connectors on many of their flashlights. Great idea!

I have magnetic body mounts on my crawler. They look great and are much easier to use than pins. The strength is incredible pulling straight but the slightest force sideways and they separate very easily.
