As RC10th has shown. The old wing is molded different than the new wing. It wouldn’t be hard to fold the sides in on the new wing. But the rolled sides were just trimmed from the way it was molded on the old wing.

To my memory and knowledge, the old GTs came with the wing in the kit. They were just also offered separate as well.

To make sure I'm understanding this correctly: If I want mine to look exactly like the boxart spoiler, I should get the JConcepts vintage GT spoiler, and trim it to look that way, and not get the # 7185 Truck Spoiler?

Thanks again, @romulus22.

If you want an exact replica, you need the old one.

You may be able to fold the jconcepts to look like Boxart. But the old one just needs to be trimmed.

I understand now, neither the JConcepts, or # 7185 are like the boxart.

I would have to get an NOS spoiler that would've come with the version1 black tub/white plastics kit.

There's no other way to obtain that old boxart spoiler in 2024, and I should make one to look exact, or compromise, like so.

Thanks as always @romulus22.

The #7185 spoiler is the same as what came with the kit. that is the spoiler on the box. Just trim it to shape of the box art body is all that’s needed.

The #7185 spoiler is definitely attainable, just keep your eyes open I guarantee one will show up on eBay.

What I was saying about the jconcepts spoiler. You can probably just trim and bend the sides to look close enough to the boxart look. It’s essentially the same thing, just molded differently and an extra step required.

The GT has been out for over 30 years now. I've had #1 for about 27 years, but hadn't thought about it since '03. Thanks for bringing me up to speed, I finally got there. :D

I can wait for a #7185 to appear. Glad I didn't drill the body for the JConcepts spoiler yet.

Got all of the decals cut and put on.

When the spoiler gets here, the body will be completed.

#2 still needs Rx pack cable and switch shortened, and muffler installed.

Instead of drilling holes for the spoiler you could use a few small pieces of servo tape.

I have the Tamiya pin vise and some bits for it coming, should be as precise as can be. I need to get one of those inexpensive laser centering devices too, should've used one of those from the beginning to line up the decals. With the laser tool you can't get it crooked or off center.

If you do decide to mount the body put a small dab of grease on two of the body mounts, line everything up and set the body down. Drill those two holes. Put grease on the other two body posts and repeat processes above... Viola'

That's a great idea, I'll do that for the little magnets that come with the invisible post kit. I was wondering how to do that without the body being clear. Thanks @RC10th!

The magnet kit should be here shortly, I believe they're rare earth magnets, hopefully not too strong, but hoping these do the trick.

Another method that has worked out well for me in the past when mounting a painted body and making the holes afterwards is to light it up from underneath with a bright light. It creates a dark spot where the post is touching that you then can mark on the outside.
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

I'll keep that one in mind for the future, thanks @MarkyDents!

Got the throttle/brake linkage setup on #2.

NOS header/muffler.

Got the throttle/brake linkage built with NOS kit for #1, needs brake rod done and adjusted still.
Image

Straightened the MIP head, the top fin was badly bent.
Image

A few more details left to do on each still.

Just noticed something about #2, which was pre-built from eBay, the passenger side has a rear toe-in mount with at least 3 degrees, the driver side is 0 degree toe-in.

Going to go back to a 0 degree mount, found an NOS set on eBay.
