I picked up a damaged chassis to repair that appears like it may be a composite craft.
Can any positively ID it?
Anyone have details on the MIP foam thing?

Did they make their own chassis or was this made by a 3rd party? I wasn't even aware that duratrax made composite chassis. Is this unidirectional carbon fiber over a core?

Duratrax had their own chassis but I'm not certain if it was a resale deal or not. You can ID a Duratrax by the 6 screw holes on each side of the chassis, rather than the 4 that D&D/CC/Parma/Trinity had. Also those holes are closer to edges of the chassis on the Duratrax. I don't know what the cores were made of.

What is the story with Eustace Moore and the Stealth transmission? It sorta seems like AE may have been "inspired" by the MIP transmission.

My thought is the stacked three gear was inevitable. Chicken or egg kinda thing. But yeah.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Pretty sure it started with the Tamiya SRB. If you look at the very first MIP case it held stock Tamiya gears. AE has rarely been first, they have been the ones that sat back and did it better.

For the 6 gear evolution, putting the diff where it belongs between the metal axle drive gears basically results in making the 6 gear into a 3 gear setup. The MIP setup sure does look like it might have pushed this configuration forward for the RC10.

This is the best illustration I know of that traces MIP through the 1980's. http://www.toybaron.com/MIPreference.htm

Got a few motors that I've never seen before! I've heard of Light Speed but never seen these cans or end bells before.
Interesting to see an aluminum end bell with a hold drilled in it?
Anyone know much about them?

That looks like it started off as a JRXT. Rear shock tower is from a JrxPro, body mounts removed for a buggy body.
