Factory Works/A&L streering

Post by ChocoTaco73 »

Curious if anyone has any experience with the FW/A&L steering for the JRX cars. Does it take care of most of the play in the stock bellcranks? Is it a worthwhile upgrade? Thanks!

The Factory Works owner is very active here. I'm sure he'll be along soon enough to answer any questions.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Well, all I can say is if you are not pleased with the current setup on your JRX, the A&L setup is real legit. One of the "go to" solutions for any truck or buggy for which it is available for fitment. I ran one on my TRX-1 bitd (now on a shelf queen in original day-glow yellow) and more recently on a TRX-1 run on carpet and astroturf. The stock TRX-1 steering is not bad, but it's just plastic bellcranks on aluminum posts whereas the A&L has the four (4) ball bearings. Precise, solid, and slop-free. Just follow the install and bump-steer suggestions, etc. Pay close attention to any necessary shimming and tightness of fasteners. Sometimes a 1/20th of a screw turn can be the difference between slop-free smoothness and binding/drag. Once it is dialed in, it just needs periodic inspection and/or adjustment like any other component or system.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Thanks for the info TRX-1! I too ran A&L parts way back when (trailing arms, steering, slipper, etc), great stuff!

Good to know! lol I ran the A&L steering on my RC10 BITD and it was great so I might be picking up a kit for my JRX2 project. Glad to see you guys are still around!
