Pistons that fit in older TRX shocks?

Post by Lonestar »

Hello Friends,

Does anyone know of readily (or not too hardly...) available pistons that work in the old-school (trx-1, Eagle and the likes) traxxas shocks?

The AE pistons are bigger as I found out... the shock bodies are a very similar size outside but the thickness of the body is much higher on the traxxas's, so AE small bore pistons just don't fit...

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Paul,

Nice to see you pop in here. Hope all is well. Not sure if you do the Amazon thing...but there does seem to be some TRA 1965 availability:

Hope you're doin' something fun.

Hi Mark

Thanks for your help - good to see some pillars of the forum still around.

Appreciate the help on 1965's, thanks. My beef with the stock Pistons (which I have in my shocks) is that they have ZERO pack, even with the lowest-size "indent" one... So I was hopeful some more race-oriented branded pistons, where a bit more R&D went into hydraulics, would offer a better option.

worst case, I will try to order some 1965's, fill them up, and redrill, but I'm a lazy b@st@rd

Will post updates to a couple of long-term projects soon - with the local tracks being closed again, I can spend some time on vintage RC stuff :)

Cheers,
Paul

Not sure on diameter. Could maybe turn them or sand them down?

No problem. Hope they fit.

They looked available from several sources. Check around.
