I want to say Doberman or lynx?

Re: Which Playtron model is this?
Playtron was also somehow related to Varicom, known for the Big Grizzly monster truck.
The lynx and Doberman were brothers, one was 2wd and one 4wd, but I don't recall which was which.

Re: Which Playtron model is this?
Playtron Lynx.
You can tell because it has the front gearbox in there, you can see the input for the shaft drive.
Classing the Lynx and Doberman as a "knock off" of the Frog is like suggesting the Associated B2 was a knock off of the Losi JRX Pro SE. The only similarities are the design choices of a spaceframe chassis and rear trailing arms, both concepts were used by many manufacturers in the early eighties.

I love it! But is it the truth?8rad wrote:The B2 was a knock off off the pro SE.
The Lynx pictures sure brings back memories. A friend had one I am sure. I have not seen anything like that in 25+ years.
He also had the Varicom Grizzly I am sure, we sure are going back alot of years here.

I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

...And judging by the lack of center shaft, I probably employed the same one-way front-wheel hub inserts as the Grizzly... which tended to fail in short fashion, making the center shaft redundant for a car that's suddenly only 2WD!terry.sc wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2013 7:25 pm Playtron Lynx.
