The large tire in the pic is a Primal RC solid axle monster truck. Saying it’s gigantic is an understatement.
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

Have you used the new Sharpie PRO? That smells like you are trying to get high in the back of class. I have used it to touch up black anodizing and it looks OK.

At least it's a roller now, I didn't bother doing a build thread as it's just a stock T2 with Lunsford turnbuckles.

I just need to make up a rear spoiler and to decide whether to glue up some onroad tires or offroad tires.

Maybe I should call this the unfun truck  to be honest I haven't really enjoyed this build much for some reason, but It's finally starting to take shape and is nearly finished. I just need a servo extension for the ESC to reach the receiver and paint the body.

I would also like to drill a new antenna hole as the T2's is in a terrible spot, I might actually make a little fiberglass bracket to offset it slightly so I don’t have to touch the chassis.

I've soldered up the motor and ESC for it. The RTR T4.1 that I bought for my throwback truck came with a like new Hobbywing XE Run V2.1 combo which I thought I'd use for this truck. I basically had to unsolder all the power/motor wires as whoever originally soldered it up used a highish temp gluggy silver solder. I also had to remove the solder cups from the board to clean them up before resoldering them back on and the wires. It also turns out the prior owner never installed the power cap, so I had to try and find one of those, then replace those wires as they were too short

Digging through my pile of electronics the servo I wanted to use had what seemed like a mile long lead on it and was the ugly twisted wire style, so I replaced the servo lead with a much shorter lead.

I've plugged it all in to test and so far it runs fine around the house. It should run well, I've used tons of these hobbywing 8.5T's and they are fantastic. Looking forward to actually driving this thing.

Hey super sano install, but clearly by your builds over time that’s what your all about. Nicely done. I see you’ve decided on tires. What did you end up going with ?

Thanks,
The red capacitor wire is bugging me but meh, can I be bothered replacing it now

I think I'll pull those tires off and use some onroad tires if I can find any. Yellow wheels are hard to come by now, and since I'm going to run this truck everywhere the offroad tires would just get destroyed on pavement. Speed Hawgs are about the only tire I've run that actually last a long while, plus I like the look.

We'll see when I get closer to finishing it.

Speed Hawgs....... :P

I don't know how they'll hold up, but Traxxas 7270 tires are a cheap option ($12/pair) and are in the 2.2" size. I've been on a tire options binge lately (outfitting 3 trucks) and now have mounted up a set of these too.

Ahh yes, the mini Revo tires.

I've decided on the speed hawgs, I spend a fair bit of time ungluing tires and cleaning rims to swap things around.

I also masked up the body today, fingers crossed it turns out ok. It's a pretty simple paint job nonetheless.....

Body finished, I used whatever colors I had and sticker bombed it. Not fantastic but good enough for a runner, some better stickers would make things better. There was hardly any paint bleed which is unusual, lol. I need to learn the airbrush  I'm not a huge fan of the Jconcepts fiddled body, although it's is still a better alternative to not having any bodies available.

That turned out pretty cool. I never have any luck with masking tape.

Tamiya tape is pretty good, a good all round tape. I don't think it leaves the sharpest of edge lines though compared to other tapes.

Liquid mask I haven't had much luck with though, but I've only tried it twice and I think I went wrong with it being too thin. Even then I'm no good free-handing a design with an exacto, so..... what could go wrong.......

I have seen a window pop out at the track during a crash because someone cut too hard into the lexan while masking.

I'm with you. I have some of their 10T bodies. Compared to their Detonator bodies, I was kinda disappointed. The mold and lines aren't nearly as sharp or accurate as I'd liked. I actually painted a large selection solid black, or the misalignment would have been obvious.

But I suppose its hard to complain about a re-pop when the original wasn't that great to begin with.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

I've updated the standard ESC firmware with some dynamic timing firmware so I can make it anywhere from sedate to out of control  These Hobbywing 8.5T combos are fantastic and great all round performers.

Tomorrow I'll try to give it a shakedown run, hopefully it comes back in one piece
