I saw one of these for sale as part of an RC lot. If the body hadn't been painted red I would consider making it my first shelf dweller. I assume its an original, it has a mechanical speed control and just looks the part.
I remember this car being nothing short of an obsession for me when I was 10-11 yrs old. This was before I saw the image of the RC10 that is at the top of this forum. At 10 yrs old obsession are easily swayed. I never aquired the grasshopper but I was able to find a used and slightly modded RC10 much later on.
If its a shelf display car then an original is the way to go, if you want to run it then get a new one, there's not much difference in the relative cost as the Grass Hopper was a very popular car back in the day (had one myself) so there are plenty about.
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
A problem shared is a problem halved but an advantage shared is no advantage at all.
I picked up a re release rear bumper for an original car. I wasn't aware that the re release was longer. I am ready to slot the bottom holes to make it work. What have others experienced and what were your solutions for making them work?
Thanks

If my memory isn't playing games with me, the first batch of re-re Sand Scorchers came with a rear bumper/cage that didn't fit, and Tamiya exchanged them for new ones for free.
(Or maybe it was the first batch of Buggy Champs that came with faulty...
I have this question, and it may have been asked before; did AE ever make the original tires for the kit, the RC10T team car that is shown on the box art and in the ads at the time (see pic).
Every rebuild of the original I see has...

Just looking at those MonsterHoppers makes me feel the need to build one. I think it would be more fun than just getting a Mad Bull.
I picked this thing up the other day, it's not in the best condition, but it's an rc car and I can't pass them up when I see them. I'm pretty sure it's a grasshopper, but just want to confirm it.

that front tower/shock setup is pretty rare. i haven't seen one in a very long time.
First post.
I got this barely used Grasshopper from a co-worker for a good price. He aquired it from his uncle when he died and it has sat in his basement for the past 16 years. I told him I would gladly take it off his hands and give it a good...

True, true, the old knobby tires were not all that realistic, but they just looked sweet on those old school buggies. Better looking than the crop of tires that followed in my opinion.
Or at least I think it is. I was searching through my stuff trying to find my old super champ and found no sign of it but I came across a chassis for a grasshopper.
Now I am contemplating the fate of this little critter. I have all the wheels for...

Good to know. Probably will just put it back into storage. Its a back burner type thing to about 7 other projects any way. Wish I found my super champ instead. But sadly it seams some whow the super champ is long gone
