This is an awesome build. I am considering one now that I see it.
Take a look at the neoprene stealth transmission gaskets, now available on eBay in gray, blue, purple. They are the best. Car looks fantastic.
I've seen those gaskets and could see them as being very effective. In my case, I don't want to "hide" my machined aluminum trans spacers.
I'm going to use a Hobby Wing XR10 Justock ESC. Great value for the money at around $54.00. To place it inline with the battery will require some trimming of the bulkhead battery box. Fixing to make that happen this morning.
Did you make the machine battery box? That is a nice piece. I am talking about the one holding the 2s Lipo, not the bulkhead above...
I understand about hiding the motor standoffs. The neoprene gaskets can be trimmed to show the spacers and still hold themselves in place, as you probably remember from the felt gaskets. They fell apart on the outside of the holes first. I just trimmed them away and put the gasket back in place. This would be for a runner of course, if its a shelfer, let that bling shine.

Hi Sandbar, I got the battery hold down (aluminum) pieces from Shining Star. I replaced the delrin stand offs that came with the kit with Purple anodized ones from Tuning Haus. The battery thumb nuts are Exotek.

I got some parts in today from AMAIN, Savox SC-0254MG servo, Avid 4-40 servo mounts, and a cool MST black/silver adjustable (8 position) servo saver.

Nomad,
I just picked up the same MST servo saver. Do you know what size ball cup is used with it?
I have a standard 3mm turnbuckle, and the normal RC10 ball cup is too small. But I’m not sure which one actually fits

Hi Zipity, I've used a Lunsford 3mm x 10mm ballstud with Lunsford rod end. You can also use RPM rod ends.
Curious if anyone's had experience with the kit. I like the front nose plate braces and will be using that innovation on some of my trailing arm buggies. thinking about getting the kit.
Since I mentioned my Blazing Star in the recent 'Dirt Thrashers' thread, I figured I would post a picture just for fun:

Not sure about the receivers but thanks for the esc pic mate....
I did a quick search, but didn't see any Star Wars related paint schemes. I think the buggy bodies (cab in the rear), kind of resemble an X-wing. Went with a Resistance style scheme. Had a few spots bleed through, but I was rushing and had not paint...

Not that I would know though.... Its been years sinse I saw a star wars movie, not counting the newest,, but I dont much remember it either!
Does anybody have any info on the use of star winding methods on brushed motors at all? I had heard rumour that Mick Goddard of MG dabbled with this, but have now come across one of his experimental motors. It was labelled as an '8 Special' but in...

From what i have read online today, star gives lower rpm but higher torque per amp. Certainly fascinating!! Will be good to see some dyno and torque checker figures... it is with my motor builder right now in fact!
Has anyone tried dyeing HPI Super Star wheels? I have a set that came with a project car I'm cleaning up, and would like to reuse the wheels. They were originally chrome, but the chrome was rubbing off, and they were looking kind of ratty, so I...

Yeah, I'm not too bent about it, but bent enough to be bent. Pretty sure I just came at it a little too aggressive. But at least now I only have to deal with 2.2 tires on 2.15 rims on the rear. Making compromises on a replica pretty much makes it...
I saw this today. I used to be a Star Wars uber-nerd, and I still like a good Star Wars related piece. Someone spent some time on this:

Well done.... if I may add another Star Wars clip:
Olivia Munn is annoying and the martial artist's outfit is probably glad there's less gravity on Tatooine, but that clip pretty much encapsulated a dream I've had since 1983! ;)
